Blizzard's next big thing?

To me Blizzard has always been a trend builder in game industry. I personally do not like some of their games, "Warcraft 3" to name one, but I can't deny the great deal of creativity.

If you were in Blizzard CEO's shoes what would be your next big product idea?

Geez, I think my next big thing would be.....NOTHING.

How about dumping some resources into finishing Diablo 3? There's a good project to focus on. This "when it's done" crap is wearing pretty thin for me. I love the stuff they make, but GEEZ. Get on with it.

To answer the question I am not sure exactly......I think whatever it is needs to be more action oriented. That seems to be the trend.

I would go for a great MMORTS, Civilization style. Coming from Blizzard it will attract millions of players

If i were Blizzards CEO I would fire who's ever idea it was to release WOTLK, and then I would get to work on a new title and quit releasing sequels and trilogies. Lets see something new Blizzard.

I think an engaging social game running on Facebook,... with an advanced 3D graphics engine could be a good idea as well but I am not sure how big it can go.

Creativity and Blizzard used in the same sentence? What world am I in?

Blizzard does very little that is new or creative, they usually just repackage tried and true gameplay mechanics, dumb them down, and throw a massive marketing campaign behind it. In terms of WoW, they've never even created any innovative ideas. So honestly, I don't give a care what their next big thing is, because chances are I've already played it in a better form, just like when WoW came out I was bored because I had already played EverQuest.

I really admire Warcraft 2. At the time it really was creative. Even Warcraft 1. You are right about WoW to some extent though. I think it was more of marketing campaign and graphics than creativity at the time.

The rumor say that this is something new but I am not really sure it is true. Last IP they created was Starcraft in '97 (or was it '98?).

But whatever it is it will be interesting to see it. But I am not so sure it will be as huge hit as Wow, it seems like several actual AAA games are releasing in 2011 (unlike 2002 or 2003, and before you say Eve, it was for from AAA in 2003) making the competition a lot harder this time. But that will of course just force both Blizzard and others that releases MMOs after that to make their games a little better.

I agree that Blizz needs something new to keep the MMO fans, something to similar to Wow wont do.

If I were Blizzard's CEO, I would have hired Icefrog and asked him to make a Dota game which is totally different from Warcraft.

...but it's impossible now since there is already HON.

And the board will fire you pronto. Are you nuts in firing someone who makes a expansion that sells millions copies in the first day?

Next great thing they could do was get rid of Activision.
