Didn't we have this same conversation when Free Realms came out?
I think we have this conversation for every mmo. We're angry people who desparetly want an MMO to entertain us and will bite the heads off any developer who dosn't give us what WE want! Rawr! (I'm in that boat, but I try and be objective and keep my nerd-rage to a minimum.)
In all fairness, I mention Free Realms since it is SOE also and this bit of news is almost carbon copy of the PR releases we saw with that game shortly after release. But yeah, population is certainly debated in every game that is discussed on this site....

I agree...
You'd be hard pressed to find a message board on this site, that the game its representing isn't getting bashed to some extent. Typically, it seems more often than not as well.
I don't think I can pick an MMO right now, or in the past that didn't "sux" because of mutliple reasons we have all heard countless times before.
Tried it, the mini games aren't bad (some are rather fun) even if they are all Star Wars themed. The problem is the use of the word Adventure in the name. There is NO adventure whatsoever. It's just minigames and a chatroom lobby. (Though you can paperdoll your avatar.)
I guess you can go there for the minigames, but if you want to 'develop your character' or participate in an 'adventure' you are totally out of luck.
It's sort of free and star wars so that comes as no surprise. Still it shows there is an interest in the design and in the product, doesn't mean everyone likes it of course. I have to agree with what a poster said earlier in this thread. It's a kids game, seeing so many adults tear into it is quite mind boggling.
My little bro loves it btw, it falls right in line with what he looks for in games like this.
I'm a pre-cu vet, went through NGE, and quit over it, it still boggles my mind how so many hate SOE as much as they do.

damn guys... just because a game says family/kid friendly doesn't mean you should say "screw this" as soon as you see those words. like wizard 101. the theme and the dialouge towards u sound like crap, but it's fun, and a good change instead of button mashing. u think that everyone there will just act like a little kid? WRONG. every step i take in that game, there's always someone cool, not someone who talks about candy, or power rangers. some places there's constant swearing, some places there's hardcore gamers, some places there are WoW freaks, and some places have psychos/jerks, your average mmo. so give some mmos that say family friendly a chance. BTW clone wars is ok, but not worth the money for it... all u get extra is the ability to change your hair... wow...
im really tired of you guys this is why mmo's as a genre are dying. the game is fun it constitutes an mmo because many people can access it at the same time/visit your house...no it isn't as indepth as free realms..but is free realms really that indepth?
Hey guys! Calm it down 10 notches... I know lots of people are knockin' it... but real gamers are NOT, and I repeat, NOT the target audience. Their target audience are kids who are playing "Club Penguin" and other online games like that, where its essentially a chat lobby with mini-games. By making it an easy game for parents to get involved in, too, I see this as a great game. Not my cup of tea, and you won't see me playing it, but you don't necessarily have to agree with something to see its value.
What do they mean by "registered users"? I think last time i checked a SOE game, all i had to do was to fire the Station Launcher, login with my *SOE account* and press a button there to download & play the game... Is it different for this one?
"Traditionally, massively multiplier online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars combat, exploration and character progression. In Alganon, in addition to these we've added the fourth pillar to the equation: Copy & Paste."
this is a kids game ..you are adults... you are not there target audiance .why complain
Then using the same logic....why is SOE bragging about (or attempting to brag) about 1 million non-adults playing/registering/whatever the game. Since the target audience cannot purchase items, whats the point?
Just another SOE attempt to get some good press before the bad starts.
The amount of disposable income that tweens/teens have or have access to is obscene.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Is this really an actual MMO? I tried it for about 20 minutes, and it seemed to me to be more of a lobby for a bunch of minigames than an actual MMO. Was there something I missed?

They complain because the game has the letters SOE attached to it.
The majority of the crowd here, very Pavlovian.
Good game or not, most people on this site see SOE and out pop the claws.
Also I can't figure out how SOE would borrow my account. Someone please explain, or will I need to get some tinfoil?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
