Ehhh I just don't know...

I have been playing the Vindictus Beta for a bit now and for some reason this games feels an awful lot like a fantasy Hellgate: London, only with poor itemization. I play a Lann character and I seem to wreak more havoc grabbing the throats of my enemy and hurling them at the others... while this is cool in an old school Mortal Combat kinda way, it makes my weapons feel crappy as I can body slam mobs and hurl boulders or random objects at them for more damage and even build up some titles.

Once I got over the initial bliss of getting my feet wet the game almost became immediately stale, killing the same mobs in the same scenery over and over (just like Hellgate), with nothing new in exciting in the way of drops aside from rare crafting materials and "power ups". I am not a hater of the game but I really don't see how this title can be a success. Perhaps I was just expecting more from this game, it just fell way short on delivery. Call me crazy but based on the action oriented game play this game has and comparing it to TERA this seems like a stripped down and bare bones version of what I read about TERA. Perhaps your experiences may be better but i think I am going to take a pass on this one.

Lastly, please don't pull the beta card as this game has been fully released overseas and all we are really dealing with is some translation issues.

What are your other Hobbies?

Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...

The game is pretty shallow as of right now. Only 2 classes, only two real dungeons and a limited number of enemies makes the game feel extremely repetative. Its a lot of fun to bash in the faces of the mobs, but the extremely poor AI takes away the fun after a certain amount of time.

Its a fun game to hop in and play a dungeon, but anymore than that gets boring quickly.

It is accurate to say Vindictus is a stripped down version of TERA. The thing is Vindictus cut out a lot of fluff to be first and be playable as a game now while TERA sits behind endless delays. Vindictus will add in more stuff later but for now it is the only next generation combat MMO on the market.

I can't come to the same conclusion as this. Seeing as TERA actually works as a traditional MMO (open world, robust questing system, etc) with a different action system than Vindictus, granted both are in the same path of combat.

Vindictus is a pretty decent Source game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_%28game_engine%29) but to compare it to the likes of TERA I can't see the similarities seeing as the combat systems are different and both games play differently.

Actually yes one can pull the Beta card atm, as what you see in game now, is only part of what is FULLY released in the East.

yes it will be  more of the same though just more town hubs, and more boats, with better skill ups and better gear.

I really dont think ths game is meant to be played non stop for hours and hours, but it really shines when you play it a bit at a time, a couple hours here or there IMO

Yes yes, I have said the same a few days ago  but it is cool that someone else have the same vision. Vindictus is more like a treat to us (given us a sample of epic game play) till the major tasty deserts come out.

Yes you are right, a bit at a time is how I play it. Vindictus is like drinking a protein drink, you get the edge to play for some hours but then you crash, and the potent juice is now gone, you stop playing it. You did enjoy that drink tho, it gave you that rush of energy and so you come back later for some more.

This game is going to need a diablo-esque item system for it to be long lasting I think. At the very least something like Phantasy Star Online ( not Universe ).

I believe Vindictus will have a standard Korean MMO enchanting system for improving gear which means you are going to end up breaking a lot of gear trying to get the perfect enchantment.

    Gear starts at +0 bonus

Safely upgrade to +1 bonus with only cost being mats

Upgrading to +2 bonus has a small chance to break the item

Upgrading to +3 bonus would have a larger chance of breaking the item
