I bought the game from Steam on June 28th. First live chat I got nothing. Second one, after much ranting (I was rude as hell; talking about EA being thieves and there being thousands of victims) about consumer rights and such, I got the chance to show my receipts (Steam purchase history + e-mail) through remote desktop. He saw the receipts, didn't mention the purchase date, gave me the list with EA games and I choose. It's activated and I've already played.
Well, I was just able to talk to someone and since I preordered, I won't be able to receive any help either.
Tyrone: Hi, my name is Tyrone. How may I help you?
: Hello. I bought APB, and now about three months later, the servers are no longer available, meaning the game I paid for I no longer have access to. I've been following massively.com, who have posted that people are supposed to contact EA Support about the issue.
Tyrone: I understand your frustration over this issue but there are a few things to remember. Real Time Worlds was the owner of the servers for this game, as well as the owner to the rights of the game as well, EA is simply trying to help out its customers through goodwill as we have no responsibility to refund or issue free games to customers for something out of our control.
: I understand.
: That is why I did contact support, to see if anything was being done.
Tyrone: I am extremely sorry, but we are allowed to work under certain policy and unfortunately we are only able to provide some form of compensation to the customer who have purchased the game after 15 July
Tyrone: But for that also , we need to verify the purchase confirmation email
: So people who preordered the game are screwed over?
: Even though there are sites showing that EA is helping those who preordered as well. I bought the game on June 13th
Tyrone: Unfortunately as per our updated policy we are not able to assist you on this issue
: So for future reference, never preorder a game EA has anything to do with, so you don't end up losing out if something goes wrong?
Tyrone: As with all offerings, however, there is a limit to the length of time these compensatory offerings can be provided. In this case, we must limit the offer to purchases within 60 days of the game's closure date. As your purchase did occur before 7/15/10, we will be unable to provide further compensation in this regard.
: And so never preorder a game that EA is publishing, or helping with.
: Thanks anyways. I'll be sure to post this so people don't have to worry about wasting their time, hoping EA will help them.
Tyrone: Is there anything else I may assist you with today?
: Nope, I'll just make sure to stay away from EA. I had thought after reading reports that they were trying to help those who did lose out, but I see those reports were wrong.
Tyrone: I appreciate your co-operation and look forward to support you in future.
Tyrone: Thank you for your participation. Have a wonderful day. For future reference, a transcript of this chat can be found within the ‘My Stuff’ above.
Tyrone: It was my pleasure to assist you.
Have a nice day !
Tyrone: Bye, take care *Smile*

I will admit, I was a bit rude near the end, even though it wasn't his fault. It was a new policy they have.

Wow, you were pretty rude there... Probably didn't help any >.<. Also, I agree with the policy. I think if they didn't have that policy in check, they'd have 138k people coming and asking for free copies of EA games. Not very good for business..

I know. I should have waited until tomorrow, a bad day is not a good day to contact any type of support for anything. It means I am a rude person, when I am normally not one.
An uppdate to mine. I got a direct response back from support via email. They allowed me to keep my 25% off coupon and now they are allowing me to select a download only game of my choice from their store.
So for those having trouble working with live support just send it in as an email.
My email stated that APB may live on once again.... maybe a little forshadowing.....hmmmm
Email support just offered me the same bs 25% coupon. EA really shot themselves in the foot here. They didn't have to get involved and would have been fine, but by making this offer then trying to weasal out of it they look shady.

This.
Seems EA would of bene smarter washing their hands of this and directing all complaint stoward Realtime Worlds and it's creditors.Think EA regrets making a publishing dela with RTW now?heh

Yea the EA issuing refunds is bullshit. plain and simple. The dates prior to purchage seem to change from person to person.
EA is the gaming industry's Enron. what ever your paying for. you sure as hell wont see it.
It..Burns..
