But, um... Is Darkfall cel-shaded?

I hate WoW because it made my plush hamster kill himself, created twin clones of Hitler, punched Superboy Prime in reality, stared my dog down, spoiled my grandmother, assimilated me into the Borg, then made me into a real boy, just to make me a woman again.

i have no idea what that is.

I will say however I personally find the graphics TONS better than EQ2, but its mostly becuase of the art choices than for any technical reason.

    I hate purple trees

Nope, but some people have complained that having post processing effects enabled can make it look that way for them. Although it can seem partially cel shaded when it kicks in with black outlines.

I always thought it was cell shaded slightly too. I guess not? I can see that the outlines only appear sometimes, but when they do it makes characters / enemies look cell shaded.

     cel shaded = black outline?

I think that is just a bug that happens from time to time during day/night changes. I rarely ever get it anymore sometimes for a few seconds in the morning (in game of course).

Its by far not a deal breaker. The in game world is amazing compared to most mmos out now.

Nah, actually I like it better that way. Kind of looks like a painting.

    QUOTE:

"Cel-shaded animation (also known as Cel shading or Toon shading) is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make computer graphics appear to be hand-drawn. Cel-shading is often used to mimic the style of a comic book or cartoon. It is a somewhat recent addition to computer graphics, most commonly turning up in video games. However, the end result of cel-shading has a very simplistic feel like that of hand-drawn animation. The name comes from the clear sheets of acetate, called cels, which are painted on for use in traditional 2D animation, such as Disney classics.[1]"

Its not just the outline, its about cartoon/comix feel, making 3d objects look like 2d. DF is definitely not a cell-shaded game. Borderlands is an example of a cell-shaded game.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Right, which is why I suggested disabled post processing because it's the closest thing in Darkfall that resembles "cartoon"ish looking objects.

Champions Online is another example of a cel-shaded game. I didn't like the cel-shaded look of CO. Thankfully they let you disable it.

I agree darkfall has the best game world out there. I can't even imagine how much better its going to look after the xpac and all those new textures. People who talk about exploring in games need to play darkfall.
