I was just thinking the other day, how the past week has been pretty quiet on info on Guild Wars 2.
Wouldn't it just be amazing if A.net actually had the game way further done then they were letting on and it was released like this year?
Like they were just messing with us saying it's going to come out next year and then suddenly BAM! it hits stores! This would probably make me the happiest person in the world, and I'd probably have to change my pants after hearing that.
I know realistically this won't happen but I am dying inside every day waiting 
Just wondering what all of you would do if this incrdible scenario happened? I think I would nominate A.Net as the best company ever.

Ya know, and I know this really has no bearing on anything...........but..............I was at Gamestop, and I asked if they had a date on GW2. They gave me November 4th, and I said, "Really!?!?!, How Accurate is that?" The clerk responded, "Well if the release date we have is on a Thursday, it's usually 90% accurate." He then showed me other games dates in the past that their dates that Gamestop had did not fall on a different day other than Thursday and how they were delayed, and then showed me games that were set for a Thursday and they all were on time.
So Just sayin.

Yea i've heard about other people saying GameStop had a release date for it, but most of it was just speculation. I'm gonna go to my own and see what's up there. I hope Gamestop's right about an early release

Okay, what does one have to do to get into closed beta?
I got the same info from my local EB games refrencing 11/4, and yes, that's a thursday for what its worth.
I'm already about to start my second alt. Get with the program guys.

The game needs too be really polished and have a good amount of content before it releases. I dont mind playing a bugged game with lack of content at launch, but most people dont so the playerbase suffers and since this is a pvp game it needs many people
But yes, it would be pretty fucking awesome if it was pretty much finished allready and they are just doing some bug fixes right now.
But i dont think beta will even start this year, Beta will most likley begin early 2011. launch late 2011 / early 2012 (hope we get to play it abit before the world ends atleast^^)

It's not even in beta yet, they'll let us know when we start to approach GW2 beta. The other comments about people playing beta were just messing with you. No one is actually playing in beta, including the other two people who said they were
But then again there is the top secret super closed beta (and if I say anymore the men in black will take me away).
Like they said (Arenanet)...it will be released when it is done (and done right) and no sooner.
Gamestop has the pre-order date as 11.2.2010 -- but I would only take it with a grain of salt. Looking forward to this MMO, just hope it lives to the hype!
Yah Gamestop does have it listed as 11/2/2010 Man that would be sick. But also make me cry a little, what to do for the next month?! :O

I don't think that's true. Do you think that A.net would lose the opportunity to hype about the game release ate least 1 month earlier? And they still have to talk about the other 4 professions, PVP, WxWxW and Guilds. Well, they FINALLY talked about loot, upgrading gear and cosmetics in gear. Probably they won't talk about having a closed beta, only the conclusions/fixes they will make after it ended. About Open Beta, I don't know how much Open it will be and how much time it will take.
So they still have a lot of info that will help give hype to the game, And I don't think they will release all that info + the betas + the date release in 1 month. It's too close. And they are the best organized companny in the mmorpg industry at the moment.

I have to agree with this. I don't see A.net releasing GW2 anytime (like in a month or 2) soon. Although I would love to have it as soon as I can so I can give up my life and dedicate it to this game, but..... that's not happening anytime soon. I feel like they are so busy trying to give their players every comfort that they have in every other game and put all that good stuff in GW2. Because of that it's taking a bit longer. Although, I'm not complaining... I love the fact that they are doing that.

I still think they will release the game around March-April 2011. It makes sense. Nov 2011 or beguinning 2012 is too much time I guess. Makes sense waiting 6/7 months: 1 profession info released each month, plus the conclusions of closed beta and beguinning open beta, and meanwhile the other infos will be released. 2 months to end OB and fix all issues and bugs...
If I were give more time to the game, I would say June-July is the latest. Someone said in another thread that GW2 can be released in the same day that GW1 was released.... which I don't remmeber the exact date lol
EDIT: GW1 was in April 26. Yap, It's just like my calculations xD
