Yeah, Gamma would be pretty awsome. I think I still have that some where. Never got to play it with friends though. Suprised the NWN modders never touched it.
What about an old western MMO? Red Dead Redemption had good reviews and people were entralled with a size of the game world and the objects within it. Makes me believe it might be a decent change from the Fantasy/Sci-fi genre.
i would also think a old west style game would be good as well. maybe an old west / fantasy mix or old west /sci fi mix. but for an ip would love to see a real Star Trek mmo in the making not the crap cryptic gave us.
Star Craft, with three factions, not any alliance or exclusion bullshit. You can play as one of the three, and have some good old fashioned PVP, with obvious good PvE as well.
I have always thought an MMO created in the Samurai Jack universe would be great.
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
I'd like to see a Middle Earth MMO done right, where not everyone goes through the exact same instanced story. "Hey my character met Aragorn!" "Yeah, mine too!" "Oh wait, we all did, its mandatory! And we just HAPPENED to see the Fellowship several times!" This isn't a bloody singleplayer game.
Aside from that, Wheel of Time would be great.
I'd like an MMO set in England's Dark Ages too, or just DAOC 2, but I'd love to see a realistic, grim, medieval England, with realistic looking chain/scale armor, plate on knights that doesn't have massive shoulderpads.
considering the zombie fad at the moment, I am very surprised no zombie mmorpg has been made. I mean it would make sense. Although I suppose it does require guns, and not the huge array of fantasy abilities.

A new company, Undead Labs http://undeadlabs.com/, is working on a Zombie MMO. They have a few developers from ArenaNet on their team.
The Last Airbender. Similar to LotRO in that there's a main story/protagonists, but also plenty of unexplored/untouched areas and room to make your own character. Although with the utter failure of Shyamalan's travesty... I mean movie... I don't know if any major company will pick it up. If the new mini-series based on the IP coming in 2011 does well, they may look into it. I just hope it's not catered towards "kids"; Avatar is something even some parents enjoy, so please, don't dumb it down.
Something more likely to happen? Hmm... I don't know. For sci-fi, they've done Star Wars and Star Trek, maybe Battlestar Galactica? TRON!?!??!!?!? I'm sure if the remake does well, they'll consider it... didn't someone make a Mummy MMO? Y'know, The Mummy? If they can do that, they'll do anything.

Harry Potter. Might not be the perfect match for the mmorpg.com crowd, but I'd guess it would be a huge success.
A Disc World MMORPG would just be awesome (if done right)

one created from scratch. if you've noticed the trend of MMO's using popular IP's, they don't really last

Do Shadowrun already. It could be epic.
Dune ticks all the right boxes, but is rather obvious.
But what about The Prince of Nothing:

Brilliant books which would make a great setting.
