Around the 22nd of september a few posters claimed this was the best release ever to occur to an mmorpg. of course it was only the collecter editon players who got a week in advance to play ff14.
They spinned the truth and made it sound as if SE knew what they were doing. 2 days later and well its official launch is plagued with lag , lag and more lag. many reporting issues making accounts ect.
Seems ff we ff14 went out for a rough ride pretty bumpy one but not as bad as others, we can say its a so so launch.
This is the very reason I wait before i jump into a game. when i do get my copy many of the current issues will be adressed. I wont end up quitting due to frustration like tons of players will do at start due to the mess.

Because the people who baught the Collector's edition wouldn't have a biased opinion at all!
That's just silly...

I think both fans and non-fans can agree that saying this game has a smooth launch during a headstart event is kinda irrational, but I digress.

In terms of MMO Launches go it actually isn't so bad. The lag isn't an issue once your out of the level 1-5 areas. Which is to be expected with the amount of people logging into the game.
Servers haven't crashed at all and a minimum amount of maintenance so I would say this is a pretty successful launch.
Get away from the starting areas as quick as you can and that'll go a long ways in terms of lessening your lag.
Kashuan has crashed about 5-6 times since headstart, including today.
Yeah, I was going to say that. There were a few crashes when I was playing during the head start. And there were a lot more server restarts.
You say WE in your post. Please do not speak for me as I am yet to have any lag. Unless I am so use to lag that I cant possibly notice. I am sure there is no way I will convince you of that though so....have a nice day.
Lag is a huge issue, doors not opening, minutes for things to appear its all server lag and its clear stress tests were needed. those are not the only issues. there are account creation issues also.
I really think you misread what the OP has said. *shrug*.

Huh. You are having a different experience than almost everyone else. Especially when it comes to menu lag.
The menu lag is enormous in populated areas.
Bought the game today, don't understand the complaints about the patcher, took no time at all. Been playing for almost 5 hours straight now. No lag that I could determine.
Have to say that the UI is cumbersome, but thanks to reading on here and other places it is not hard to use, just a little cumbersome. I play with mouse and keyboard and it is just fine. Combat is slow but pretty fun and the quests are fun if you take your time and read them.
It is very much a question of your mindset if you're going to like this game or not. Personally I am a very very slow leveler which I think in this case is a blessing, considering the reports of lack of content from lvl 20 or 30 and upwards. But this feels like a game I will stay in for a long long time. To be honest I am very pleasantly surprised, I have never really liked the FF-series and this game has gotten quite a beating on here.
Sorry for being mostly off topic.

Heh, how cute. People actually amazed at lag happening at a MMO game launch. The surprise! The shock! Never experienced it before at a MMO launch!

The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:

Debate is worthless on these boards. He wont change my mind and I wont change his so what is the point. There is a fine line between debate and argument and there has been plenty enough on these forums for every subject known to FF14. What is the point in starting all over again? I just dont like other people saying WE like they talking for me....for...obvious reasons.
To be fair, menu lag was happening with smaller populations as well and has been an issue that has been reported since closed beta.
Also to be fair, last week there wasn't THAT much lag. Especially considering the MMO just opened up. The general sort of lag will likely reduce greatly in the coming weeks.
No problemo.
This thread is to debunk the over zealious threads claiming a perfect problem free launch which were very misleading to those who want to try the game. if people took those claims as true they would be utterly frustrated and end up disliking the game for the wrong reasons.
Its obious ff14 is a different beast and some time will be needed to get to the point you can play the game without big frustrations. Reason why im waiting out and those on the fence still deciding should do. there are some reasons.
SE is working on the market system, they are also still taking feedback on some aspects of the game and will end up making some changes for the better. Those who may get frustrated or lost easy should just avoid for a while till things settle down.
If thats aimed to me. all im pointing out is the perfect launch some have proclaimed is nonexsistant. not debunking the game or saying it sucks ect. launch was far from perfect.
Of course they are going to work vigoriously to fix those issues and optimize their engine. the sooner the better.
I say get used to the lag, what I been seeing is the same stuff I saw throughout my game time in FFXI.

Glad you used the word perfert. There is the problem most people have. In 20 years of gaming I am having a hard time right now remembering anything that was perfect. I never said it was perfect.....just for the record.
The launch was probably average. I bought the CE, and am living proof that some people still know what they are getting without being bias. I knew plenty about the game before I picked up my CE. Yes the game has many bugs, many many problems. I can list over 100 easily if I take my time. But to me issues such as glitches/bugs cant be fixed with patches, while communities can't. FFXIV so far has a very good community and the game encourages you to do things with other people, and still doesn't "Force it", like FFXI.
I am very glad to be playing a MMO with no /regional/trade/LFG/Barrens chat. The only chuck norris joke I have heard in the game is the one I made in my LS chat to jinx it.
Under a normal MMO's circumstances, I would not put up with this many problems honestly. But to me FFXIV is not a normal MMORPG, as it has the most important thing for me, an excellent community. So far, at least...
In regard os playing an mmorpg with No regioual trade/ lfg /barrens chat. you know in many games that is completely optional. Yes this may amaze you but even in World of warcraft you can turn off the trade, general, local defence and practicly any chat channel you want.
Of course no AAA title will go without it after all it is a good parental control tool . if my kids wanna play the mmorpgs i play i simply kill all the chat channels which even block off emotes n all thus keeping them free from stupidity.
Chat options and knowing how to use them are your friends.
C'mon now people...the release is silky smooth, the problem is on your end - and if you think gameplay sucks you're playing it wrong.
So you're telling me that your menus work just as fast as any other game and DON'T delay at all? Almost every menu action takes a good 3 seconds to go off. Whereas in any other game, with the exception of unoptimized betas and Mortal Online, these things would go off in less than a second. Much like typing on a keyboard.
And if you think the combat is good, than that is fine, but when my leve quest updates my kill count BEFORE my animation even executes, and the mob shows any visible damage being taken, then I have a problem with the system.

Face it, it's all your fault. The game is awesome. It's just different and you're not doing it right. Your computer is set up wrong there is no lag and you should go back to WoW.
in pretty much any final fantasy game the mobs have always taken the damage before the animation played.
