I personally believe thet MMORPG.com puts whatever game on top that either gives donation, or funds the site in some way shape or form to give a game more intrest than it genarally would have... I mean because there has been nothing interesting happen with AO in forever....
Its an older game, but still a great game. The combats a little slower than some mmo's at times. As a new player one of the reasons I like it is its futuristic and I like the char skills and no gamebreaking cash shop.

More likely the other games didn't pay up or something because AO was always fluctuating somewhere between 8.05-8.13. So, a lot of other games dropped and from what I saw, it's games being hyped during development/beta stage and then flopping during launch.
Also, I think it has to do with a bit of forum activity, review or so on... So the sum is greater than the parts
