In summary, despite FFXIV's flaws, they know it will become a great game, maybe even a WoW breaker.
Cheat Code Central is one of the many critics metacritic.com uses for their ratings.
In comparison, Aion recieved a 74/100, Champions Online an 80/100, and Age of Conan an 80/100 from CCC.
Personally the part in red kind of makes the score moot doesn't it?
Aion = 74/100, AoC and Champions Online both get a 80/100........
Then to make it even worse, that 84/100 is followed by something that completely contradicts it........
We can’t recommend that you spend $50, and then $12.99 a month after the first 30 days, on a title that has as many flaws as FFXIV does. But we can recommend that you keep an eye on the news to see how this game evolves.
But yeah, this review was done entirely with rose colored glasses glued to the reviewers face. He didn't review the game for what it was, he reviewed it based on what he one day hopes it becomes. Any review done in this manner is worthless. Every MMO can be excellent if we simply reviewed it for what it may possibly be one day instead of reviewing it for what it is.

You have a point, there is no need to have insight or try and see beyond the current and obvious. When you meet someone, and they are in a deadend job, earning minimum wage, living in a stuio apartment and driving a busted up 15 yr old car, well thats all they will ever be, nothing more. Why would anyone even bother to think they could possess potential. Why would anyone bother to see the good points about them at all. I mean whats the point right? They are a nobody in a life thats going noplace, they aren't even worth the time for you to look at them...but then again, maybe they are just getting started, and the best is yet to come. Of course with your attitude, you will never know now will you?
