A few thoughts on FF XIV

Hello there, it is very rare for me too post on these forums but for once I have felt compelled to.

Heres's why, after reading different views on this game I can see a lot of people could be put off this game and I just wanted to add a few things , which have proably been said but I just feel like getting them off my chest.

 

First thing, I tried ff11 late on in it's life played for an hour was totally baffeled and thought thats enough of that. I have played most mmorpg's from launch and found my favourate was world of warcraft and everquest 2.

 

What caught my interest with ffxiv was all the chat on the forum about the game, some people hating it and some people loving it, and one topic in paticular in that you are not held by the hand and a challenge. I think over the years of playing wow and eq2 was how samey things were getting , maybe not with eq2 but defiantley for me in wow. I just logged in did a raid  rinse repeat, everything seemed so samey. So i thought I am going to try ffxiv because of what I have read in these forums.

I can say at the moment I am having a blast, I am enjoying the challenge, of having to think, of having to be careful what mobs I attack, I think the leve's are quite a good idea and with the right direction could become an interesting feature. The gathering is interesting and again I find it fun and interesting. I have not even started on the crafting but cant wait too.

I have only been playing a couple of days but I can safely say the slower pace and the challenge have defiantley drawn me in. I went out after playin for a day and brought a joypad and the game became even better for me. I can see how this game might not be to everyone's taste as I think you get out what you put in and at the start , yes it can be a bit bewildering, but I just asked around in game and people where very willing to take time out and explain things and show me the ropes.

 

Maybe it is the sense of adventure out there but I find FF not perfect but a rough diamond which if crafted in the right way will become a sparkling jewel. They have the base now I hope they can build what could be a fantastic game.

I don't know what to think about FF14 anymore, I'm just waiting for my free 30days to end and if they still don't fix those problems then I will cancel my sub. So frustrating, I was so excited about this game because I haven't had a chance to play FF11.
