Unfortunately, the Colored Forest is no more....
These are some pictures of some of the updated trees SV has added to Myrland. While they are waiting to evaluate the possibility of full SpeedTree implementation with the new build, they have been doing some nice work through development in improving the looks of the game.

As stated before, the new build will allow them you evaluate SpeedTree, but whether they can use ST or not, Myrland will continue to get better looking trees. Sure, they aren't necessarily the most detailed in the world, but I think they're pretty good for an MMO.

Yes, the new trees look great. With ST they will look even better. Today we get a huge patch. It will be most interesting to play this patch. Lots of improvements in many areas.
From the patch notes for the huge patch we get today:
"The feature section below lists that which has been added with the new build; a little information about each area will be explained on our website on Monday. This new build is planned to go live on Monday 11th of October. Some updates to the list may come on Monday.

• New build on both the network solution and Unreal Engine.
• Native 64 bit OS support with improved memory management.
• Direct X 10 support and general performance increase.
• Added high resolution textures on all creatures and the world of Nave.

I knew that SV said that the new build would allow them to evaluate SpeedTree for the game, so I was a little surprised to see in the notes that they were going to start using ST generated trees right now.
In any event, I think the new trees look really good as it is (certainly a lot better than the old ones), so if the ST trees are as good or better, that'll be great.
