I want to be a hero!

I am thinking of resubscribing to CoH, i did play the game a few years ago and remember my bloodshot eyes after going to bed at 3am, i really enjoyed it. I have played champions online, it was very pretty but it didnt quite hit the spot. I was going to buy DCUO but that has been delayed. Just wanted to get an idea of how the game is at the moment, i will be buying the going rouge complete edition as i have forgotten my log in details. (Blutak man RIP!)

The game is going well. I see abit more people on the servers then before the expansion so there is some retention atleast. The new issue will concentrate abit more on the end-gfame aswell as adding in some alternate animations so it´s looking good. Run a trial first and if you like it make the sub.

All statements I make is from my point of view unless stated otherwise.

What is it that you want to know? You were kinda vague in yer OP. In that same vein of vagueness I can answer that it will still feel like the same game only 25% better.

It's been a few years since you played so you have all sorts of goodies in front of you such as Elec/Shield scrappers to be able to feel like a hero! I was in the same boat perhaps 4 or 5 months ago, hadn't played since dual wield was introduced and jumped back in again.

I agree it was rather vague, i really wanted to know how active the game is, the problem i found with champions online was that i was going solo almost all the time, the thing i liked about CoH was grouping up it was great when i last played. Also i have been reading about the archetect user created stuff, it sounds really good, and just wonder how current players find it?

Grouping is the way to go and the architect edition provides an absolute ton of user created content. You mentioned that you for not your login details. You should be able to figure that all out with a quick call to ncsoft support. You don't want to throw away your old chars do you? Either way, definitely use the free weekend first. With DCU put off and CoH end game around the corner it's really a no brainer!

Quick update, purchased going rouge complete edition, got my science scrapper to level 10, loving the new starting zone and all those moral dilemmas! Happy days for CoH!

Hey.  Not to kick over too many old stones, but I ws thinking of returning as well.  The only issue I have is a few years back, I recall some sort of issue with NCsoft saying there were going to delete old characters or change their names to "get the good names" back other players.

Is this true?  If I return, will my scrapper with the cool name be called XBR44**RENAME ?

"I want to be a hero!"

Sorry, disapproved, far to many heros already. You can become one of those homeless people with the tin cup though, tons of street corners available for that. I hear those clockwork are acting up all over Preatoria too, so they may need a few people to actually clean and fix things there too. But nope, no room for heros at this time. Sorry.

Game is doing great! Virtue is very active still, come on by!

EDIT: Oh and you do know you can just call NCSoft support and they can find that long gone, dead account and bring Blutak man back rather easily!

I believe that only characters at or below level 7 (?) were vulnerable to that. If you had and old scrapper you'd abandoned at a single-digits level, then I daresay you can find another name you'll be just as fond of. :)

    Currently playing:
    DC Universe
    Planetside 2
    Magic Online
Simunomics, the Massive Multiplayer Economic Simulation Game. Play for free.

The last name purge affected characters of level 5 and below on innactive accounts.

IF your character was affected, then his/her/it's name was flagged as available.

IF no one used that name during the creation of their character since then, simply by logging in to your account and loading that character (not sure if that step is required) your name will again be flagged as unavailable.

IF you havehad your name claimed by another player, you will ceceive a rename token. I believe it shows in the Character Selection screen.

NCsoft/Paragon Studios does not delete characters. I met someone that hadn't played in 5 years and recently logged on to find his main still intact.

Depending on how long exactly you have been gone, you may find that you now have access to both hero and villain side of the game. They were combined right around 3 years ago. So if you only had one or the other, you now have access to both.

Even if i did quit the game and not planning to go back, if you are thinking resubbing  just do it .

Especially with the going rogue zones , its very nice for newbies to level , finally interesting story arcs with decisive outcome.

Sadly they have to be solo the decisive missions .

Or wait till I19 is released , with fitness pool inherent , that will make a huge impact on your fun .

No longer having a boring 6 levels of no real progress cause fitness pool , can make a huge difference to fun .

Anyway truth is if you are hestitant to resub , dont think the game change much its still boring instance missions.

But what has changed is powerchoice and customisation of the powers .

It can turn a boring powerset into fun and awesomeness feeling .

Sadly the game play is still the same repetitive maps ,  nothing they can do at this moment .

But going rogue did and more incentive to do missions , sadly it only goes to 20 :(

It's only $10 if you get the Cyber Monday deal for Going Rogue at Best Buy. Yes it's worth every penny with new content since you last subbed and upcoming I-19.
