I have been playing the beta since Sept 1st and I have been having a great time. The game offers the same satisfaction that Planetside offered me, fast and fun battles.
The graphics are quite good but, the developers working on the next update which will include the US tech tree and some new maps as well.
There are some balance problems that pop up with some higher tier tanks being grouped with lower tier tanks but it's not as bad as you would think, some battles are more challenging depending who your grouped up with and against but that is part of the fun of the game. For example the leopard scout tank is a light tank that ends up in some high tier battles, some people think this is wrong and they want to be put in battles where their leopard dominates against other light tanks.
These people are forgetting their main job is to scout and kill 2nd, plus the leopard can do some damage with rear shots, you just have to use your manuverability.
Arty gets a lot of discussion, it can be overpowering but only when there are more then 3 arty per team. I would limit the arty to maybe 2-3 max per side.
Anyways, overall the game is very fun, especially with the updrade system in place. You always have something to work for with your hard earned battle experience. Excpet for premium tanks, all tanks can be modified with better turrets, engines, guns, tracks and radios. So a heavy KV tank is not always the same, it depends on how its modified and crew skill level.
In the last 6 months I have played FF XIV, HPS's Red Victory, some EQ2 and MTW2 and I find this game to be the most fun, after almost 6 weeks I still look forward to playing this everyday for a little bit, longer if the wife doesnt mind!

It would not be half bad if they would get rid of Satellite view for SPGs and single hit Special Power Guns.
What are the single hit special power guns?
You say that the game is great yet you know nothing about it.
It's a bit fishy isn't it?
And for your information he was talking about the self propelled guns.
They're called "arty" by the games community and you would know this if you had actually played the game.
I think you confuse some things.
I don't know much about tanks but while playing the game I sometimes read around in wikipedia to see how close to reality the stuff in the game is. As far as I know are self-propelled guns the tank-destroyers (basically like tanks without a turret but greater firepower). They don't use a satellite view. The satellite view is used by arty only, and not by the tank destroyers.
So, I might be wrong, but that's my understanding, feel free to correct me. Even if I am wrong and you are right, there is no reason to be that aggressive towards the OP. He didn't claim to have written an extensive review, but just wanted to share that he enjoys playing the game. What's so horrible about that?
Not to mention I never heard about "special power guns" in the game either. I played WOT for two weeks or so, and never ever heard that. Just "tank / heavies / tank destroyers / arty" etc, but never "special power gun", which also sounds more like something from an anime or something, and is not known by wikipedia either.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
Special Power Guns = Guns that kills you in one hit and that can kill you from one side of the map to the other and it hits from above so hiding behind a building is not going to save you.
And the abbreviation is SPG the same as for the Self Propelled Guns.
Tank Destroyers are not the same as the Self Propelled Guns.
Play the game and you would know the difference and yes SPGs have a satellite view just press the CTRL key (iirc) while in a 15 minute game once it has actually started.
hatters gonna hate.
btw spg whiners, quote from overlord (main dev):
Very likely that SPGs shell dispersion will be increased shortly. It's in testing now.

Ok, I see you meant Self Propelled Guns, sorry but I never heard it called special hit guns. I have a Grille atm upgraded from the Wespe and yes I have played the game pretty much all of the 6 weeks I have been in the beta.
I dont think Arty is as omnipotent as some people claim, many times in my Grille I get left undefended from the light tank charge that sometimes takes me out. Some matches work out well for me, others I am hunted down and with a very slow reload and slow traverse its hard to defend myself while playing an SPG
It's why I have given up on my SPG and have been playing my KV-1 and my T-28 more often and working towards my Panther with my other tank.
I understand there is a certain element that thinks it's unfair to get hit by a target you can't see but that's part of the game, its called arty, some tweaking is needed but not much
Lastly, why all the hate? I was just stating my opinion I enjoyed the game very much. Its beta and a lot of fun at this point, imo it's better then many released games. I havent had this much fun since my Planetside days.

too bad it's not a MMO.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
It's still in beta. Clan Wars should be coming in the next couple months with persistent territory control:

While this game has the potential of any game it is basically set up in an arcade mode now. If there are enough quarters in your piggybank to play it then by all means squander your future. Unless there is a significant change toward a more realistic artillery action and increased range for tank that are supposed to be able to kill at 2000 meters with the game play maps in this game roughly less than half that they have to obscure views and engagement capabilities to flank. If you stop while flanking then the GPS view auto targeting SPG players will be able to blow you up in one hit unless you are all the the largest and heaviest armored ones. Then if you you are a slow moving heavy tank you better vanquish all those who are given the capability of spotting your through trees and on the other side of buildings by magic relaying this instantly to the GPS targeting single shot killing artillery.
It was a waste of the devs effort to put in this capabiitie for SPGs. It will be more waste if they dont change it. All the wonderful stuff they want you to buy with Gold that will cost your subspcription money is a waste as SPGs will knock you out with one shot from the sattellite before you can repair anything that is damaged.
Too bad it only offers a single battle (random) mode...it gets über boring after couple of months, without mentioning the lack of interaction between devs and testers. Clan war? don't really care, no interest in clan.
SPGs are a nuicens, yet if you keep out of sight/keep moving/use cover, chances of dying to em are well... not big, I drive the t9 VK4502, or mini maus as they call it, its the slowest piece of shit in game (maybe maus is a bit slower, or equally so) and I always get bombarded by arty shells, no way around it as Im huge and slow as turtle (turns even slower). In short my tank is the worst tank to operate in a SPG bullet magnet kind of way, yet I die perhaps 1 out of 10-20 battles of SPGs, sure they usually gets one or two hits at me a game but I survive.
Using my lighter tanks (VK3601 and A20) theres no way in hell any SPG will hit me.. or well.. it happens but its so rare you almost get a "whooa what happened" kinda feeling when it does. Its all about knowing where to position yourself, which path to take, etc. In essence through experience the SPG problem fades quickly.
I agree this game is tons of fun. I love my SPG and really enjoy the gameplay. Big battles with some off the bigger tanks (tigers or any of the higher Russian tanks) are awesome.
I'll never get tired of hiding in some shrubs and opening up my arty fire on anyone in range. Tons of fun for some quick battles.
