Buying and selling items video (light hearted)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EaGvRv6jqw&feature=player_embedded

it shows selling 20 items in FF XIV compared to selling 20 items in WOW. This is just one simple example of how even the most simple things are tideous in FFXIV.  When selling items is this boring and frustrating (you will sell a lot consider 80 item slots fill up very fast) just imagine how rest of the game is?

People somehow find this very challenging and consider it one of the complex features of FFXIV.. This is not my video but i am making one of my own, in which i will show you the amount of windows one has to click for crafting, repairing items, taking off and putting new gear etc. Trust me your head will explode once you will see the final count. For now this video will suffice.

I'm not gonna even try to defend SE, the buying and selling from NPC's is a nightmare.....as is the whole bazarr system...they need to just fold and add the AH, as well as make a mailing system.....it's more than a pain to walk ALL THE WAY across the damn planet to give my ls member who's questing in a different area stuff. i don't have tons of complaints but those for sure are the list.

My question is this: Since the ENTIRE UI is server-side, is this something that is easily fixed? The unresponsiveness of the entire game just ruins it for me. From a technical standpoint, is this something they can just switch on and off, or would the entire UI and server-client code have to be redone from the ground up? My instincts tell me that it would take more work than a simple patch, and if that's the case, I just don't think I can hang in there for the long haul.

Yeah, but my ping is usually around 200ms and I still get input lag like the OP's video showed from everything involving the UI.

It's most likely a combination of things but having the servers actually in the US for the US version wouldn't hurt at all.

The Entire UI is server side?? Huh?? Where you find that at? Inventory sure, and why it lags like mad, but I'm not seeing the UI being server side. Not when I can make it lag or not lag right at my PC by changing hardware.

Please post a video of a WoW player selling 20 items using nothing but a PS3 controller or similar gamepad, or keyboard only, as it was quite obvious in the video the FFXIV player was not using his mouse.

People just don't seem to get it. This is a cross platform game, and Square is committed to providing the same user experience across all platforms, or at least as close as possible.

WoW was designed with a suitable UI for the PC. FFXIV was not. It's not a hybrid... it's an overburdened piece of junk specifically designed with consoles in mind. Even the fact that it is cross platform does not excuse the fact that in WoW or similar games, you open your inventory, you click the item you want to sell, and you're done. In FFXIV, you have to go through the maze of menus while battling the lag.

The user experience isn't even close to the same unless you use a gamepad, which imo, is a ridiculous expectation from your PC user base.

they should just give out xp for selling stuff. its complicated and more time consuming than killing mobs.

I'm not even gonna watch that movie. The fact that you compare FFXIV with WoW, THE most "player-friendly" MMo out there, says enough to me :D

Okay, I got to agree that buying items from other players is indeed a frustrating job. Even though I'm used to this "bazaar" system because I played Lineage II in the past  (where players sit around with their shop as well), I have to say, in FFXIV you have no clue what someone is selling (I already proposed a small "subject-tag" to the bazaar to make it easier), and getting into someone's bazaar is not the easiest way around as well.

But you have to keep in mind that the whole FF series is made with a console in mind. That's the reason you have to click through so many windows before you get where you want to be. It'd be much easier if early consoles would have a keyboard that would allow you to press one key and see what's there. Okay, giving that FFXIV will be released for PC and PS3 only, they could have implemented more keyboard instead of making the game play easier with gamepad. But it looks like SE keeps hold of their old console GUI, instead of making the game mainstream WoW-ish (no flames please, OP started on this :D)

At what cost? diifferent for just sake of being different? like i said many FFXIV players think this somehow makes FFXIV special. Have you played FFXI? even that game didn't have that many windows to click to perform a single task.

A less tedious UI doesn't make a MMO Wow-ish it just makes it a less frustrating and enjoyable. Looks like you missed the point of video. WOW is just on example. I can put up  EQ2, LOTR etc up there and end result will be the same.

Also, i don't believe that only because UI was made keeping console in mind so we have to go through multiple windows in order to perform simple tasks. Bad design is bad no matter how much you try to defend it.
