When Games Don't Get Support

Does it annoy anyone else that games don't get the support they need and deserve from their parent company?

Like SOE with... Anything, really and EA with loads of their franchises?

Vanguard could've evolved into a very nice, very large, very open game. And then SOE has slowly been strangling it to death with it's umbilical cord. Hell, I'd definitely play that game if it wasn't for the fact I was worried that it won't get very much content (there's been about three dungeons since launch, hasn't there?) and I'm not certain I'd go back if SOE promised content BECAUSE they're untrustworthy buggers.

Ultima Online is another one, except in the completely opposite direction. EA gave that game plenty of support and ruined it in the process. Honestly, I could've played the "split realms" if it wasn't for the constant, terrible expansions after that. There was still an entire world for open PvP. If EA had shoved some materials in there for the carebears to get so the wolves could hunt them, that'd've been great.

Anyone else feel the same way?

you sort of contradicted your point with that last paragraph..

I dont know what to say, if a game is good it should be able find its own 'support' i do agree with vanguard though, i have many a time thought about playing Vanguard but when i realise its on life support its the biggest turn off.

Ummm, no, but feel free to change your career and get into the market so you can teach these bums how to run a company.

Maybe I should've said, "When they don't give it the right kind of support".

I mean, SOE might be thinking they're supporting Vanguard by taking all the developers from it. =p

Well i think SoE main mistake is taking too many games from failed developers to make up its station access and thus too thinly spread in support.

Taking over vanguard at the last minute and give that saving injection of cash to Brad was probably not the best idea.

As for support i think the only SoE game i still visit EQ2 gets reasonably good support in updates .I heard from my friend still playing planetside that the support there is non existant now though.
