Of course you behave differently online than in RL, because you are using a totally different medium to communicate with.
Actually trying to make people believe you are a member of the opposite sex though is something I personally have never witnessed in WoW. Maybe that's an american thing.
I have actually found I am more anti-social and quiet in MMOs than in real life. In fact, the longer I have played MMOs the more I have become the consummate soloer, and less likely to make new friends. Perhaps it's because I generally only play the mysterious and dark stealth melee classes, but I don't think so.
While some people are acting a fool in a game, I just ignore it. In real life, I enjoy calling them out on it and starting confrontation. I think it's because I know that there is nothing you can do on the internet to alter a persons stupid actions or views, but in real life you may actually have a chance.
Take for instance a year or so ago, when a rotten customer in the line of a grocery store was ranting and raving about everything, including another innocent customer in the line. I told them that they were miserable and needed to relax amd eventually as they persisted, that I would personally eject them from the store.
The look on my girlfriends and the cashiers faces, followed by a "Thank you" from the latter as the rude customer silently paid and exited, made me once again hopeful that I can make a difference in the world.
Then there are games like WoW, where one miserable person can rant and rave endlessly on a given chat channel. Saying anything is an effort in futility, and those who try are often consumed by flames.
In reality, I'm 22 year old male and really shy in real life. Though despite my shyness, I have a great sense of humor (I'm great at making people laugh, and I even laugh at myself all the time), and once I warm up to people, they say I talk a little too much. :P'
I don't only play female characters though...if the male looks awesome, I'll play him, if the female looks hot, I'll play her. Like I always played females in Age of Conan :P
Like in WoW, blood elf females are way better than blood elf males, but tauren, orc, undead males are way cooler. And troll females/males are equally cool. On Alliance, I prefer most of the male side of the races, but night elf females and males are equally as cool.
Really, it just depends if the female in the game is hot and/or cool looking compared to the coolness on the male side...but in any case, I mostly just act as myself. I don't change my typing style, don't act different...I'm a bit less shy online compared to real life.
I would rather stare at a female a** all day long than a male a** all day long...since staring at a male a** seems a lot more gay than staring at a female a**

As a real girl, I find this " I'm a kyoot girl teehee ^_^ " Obnoxious and offensive. If you ever said that to me in a game, if I could pk you on the spot I would. If you said this to me in reality I would kick you in the shins.
I am myself online or otherwise. I may be a bit nicer online.. But for the most part, I am mean either way.
Your post is somewhat at variance with your avatar.
What does my avatar have to do with anything? LOL I didn't pick this.. My previous avatar ( which I found endearing) was frightening people , and they chose this cute and cuddley one instead.
I don;t see why they were frightened by scubie the devil cat.. He is adorable!
See now isn;t that more endearing than the one they picked?
"Don't judge a book by it's cover" ring a bell?
Besides, I may appear to be petite, cute and innocent in person, that by no means means that I am nice.
There's nothing wrong with roleplaying ......on a pg13 level. It's just someone's creative mind actively working. It opens another level to your gaming experience. It's kind of like creating a character from a book with a persistent storyline.
When I was really bored during the Lineage 2 beta I did actually have fun role-playing for the first time as an orc named HULKCRUSHU. I was just shouting to the zone that I would ," SMASH PUNY ELVES" etc....I ended up having 30+ people chasing me around the zone trying to kill me. Good times.
Are you sure that was because of roleplay and not being incredibly annoying?

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

In that particular case they are one and the same
