I will, somewhat reluctantly, preorder SWTOR. Reluctantly only because it isnot going to have REAL space combat and because I think it will not have much to do past the story missions. I am one of those that is not into PvP nor Raiding so how long I stay will depend upon what else I can do without those story missions.
We live in the digital age, its not like were gona run out of copies...so why pre order?
The only thing i somewhat like on that list was Terra Online, but if i wanted to try it out I would probably just go on the website after release, surrender my money and download it lol.
TSW - AoC - Aion - WOW - EVE - Fallen Earth - Co - Rift - || XNA C# Java Development

I don't know about other countries but in the UK you can usually use pre-order as a try before you buy if it comes with a week or two open beta access just before launch. Companies like GAME don't charge your credit card until they ship the box so if a game sucks you can just cancel during that open beta phase without losing a penny.
In Diablo, you play online with thousands of other people (yeah they're grouped into small games, but endgame raids in normal MMO's are as such and are instanced, so whats the difference?). You advance your character's skills through experience from fighting. You can get better and better equipment.
Just because it isn't the same as other MMO's doesn't mean it isn't one at all.
I doubt I will with any of them. Not unless in testing one of them they completely floor me with their gameplay and presentation.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Funny, GW used a similar model and it's been roundly criticized for not being an MMO. The consensus seems to be, if a game has a lobby, it's not an MMO. I see no difference between this Diablo and it's previous iterations, and I doubt there are many who would be willing to label them as MMOs.
Pre-orders are a scam. Wait until the game is released before you put money down on it.
Important facts: 1. Free to Play games are poorly made. 2. Casuals are not all idiots, but idiots call themselves casuals. 3. Great solo and group content are not mutually exclusive, but they suffer when one is shoved into the mold of the other. The same is true of PvP and PvE. 4. Community is more important than you think.
I wouldn't preorder any MMORPG anymore. Everyone knows most promises about the games are blatant lies, and the rest is exaggerated. Not to mention that the early starts are always laggy and bug ridden. Can't imagine any MMORPG showing up where I couldn't wait a month or two to see how it developes before I decide whether to join or not.
If the company doesn't have anything to hide then they will have an open beta and then i can judge if it's worth putting money into.
TERA will be the only hopful pvp mmo coming out in 2011 for all those open pvp fans.
MMORPG.COM: One area in TERA that has not been talked about much is PvP. Can you tell us about some of the PvP elements to the game?
Scott: TERA has an amazing PvP system, which we believe will satisfy and excite all kinds of gamers. Depending on their location in the game, players (and their characters, of course) can initiate friendly duels, outright PK, or arrange mass battles with up to 20 players. There’s even an “iron man deathmatch” option in which one player can face off against up to 10 opponents! We are also actively exploring options for both PvE and PvP exclusive realms, as well as cross-server battlegrounds and end-game content.
I voted for Rift since I knew so many people would be voting for GW2, but I will be pre-ordering both.
In my opinion I consider my views on the past, present and future MMO's before they released/release pretty damn accurate. I saw through the Champions/Star Trek hype (I mean who didn't really... Oh I guess the lifetimers), I pitied those who hopped aboard the Aion train claiming NCsoft changed their ways and became more Westernized. FFXI was my second MMO of all time (just loved it) but FFXIV was never on my radar and for good reason I see according to the forums.
Anyhow I am not always right, I played APB beta and had so much fun but I knew the game was doomed... the subscription model didn't fit the game no matter how you looked at it. I bought it and decided I would at least get 2 or 3 good months of play out of it before it became a ghost town but thought a year down the road this game would be even better... never saw it getting the plug pulled on it so fast.
Anyhow back to Rift, I am willing to bet my 50 bucks that it will be a game that I will enjoy the big thing is will it be something the MMO community will enjoy and support and keep alive. Who knows only time will tell but just like The Chronicles of Spellborn if I at least have a blast for 4-5 months then it was all worth it in my mind.
Since I'm actually playing a couple really fun mmos and plan on revisiting a couple also I think I'm going to just let games like GW2,SWTOR, ER & Rift release and wait for the publics reaction.
Needs more multiple choice. I'm definitely doing GW2, but will most likely be giving RIFT a solid go as well since GW2 won't cause me to double up on monthly fees. WH40k is never going to make it out for 2011, and either way, is likely going to fall into the same pit WH:O did.
GW2 but only because I really like the first game and because I actually trust ANET to release a complete game. There are several other interesting games but I will wait until I know the shape before buying any of them.
Pre-ordered SW:TOR the other day. Still play through KOTOR and KOTOR2 fairly often so it's a no brainer for me. I'm not even bothered how "MMO like" the finished product is, I'd buy it if it was single player.
I am a big fan of Bioware's other games (Mass Effect 2 / Dragon Age) so the pre order for SWToR should be fine. I was not happy with GW1, so I will wait for reviews before buying it.
None, I am going to continue playing Eve and Lotro in 2011. They are both well established games and are very fun. SWTOR was on my radar until I heard it was going to be an epic fail.

Will the earth end in 2012? I ask because you claim to know the future. Amazing.

Let's party like it is 1863!
I am kind of dissapointed, not even 50% for GW2....
Seriously...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Forgive me for i really dont understand..

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Simply a breath of fresh air in the MMO world.

Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
More votes!! keep them coming!!
A True Master who Knows his own limit...
40k online
Everything else seems to be a mirror image of what was released previously.
The markets quite stale.. 40k and even Earthrise look to be the only titles willing to try something outside of the box.
FoE Fist of the Empire

TOR......only need to know it is made by BW. Until such time that I am unhappy with their RPGs, I will continue to pre-order everything they make.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
I am a big fan of Bioware's other games (Mass Effect 2 / Dragon Age) so the pre order for SWToR should be fine. I was not happy with GW1, so I will wait for reviews before buying it.

None, I never pre-order MMO's, too many are over hyped.
I voted RIFT, but I will more than likely get most of them on release.. probably all pre-ordered
Well it all depends on the release dates for me really :P
I never pre-order unless I"m in the beta and wondering why isn't released yet. Last I pre-ordered was LOTRO.
Far. far too much hype and spin these days to count on any of these companies.
Will the earth end in 2012? I ask because you claim to know the future. Amazing.
learned a hard lesson about hype with last game I pre-ordered, Star Trek Online. Never again..
GW2 is the only game still on my maybe list, but in the end I'll probably just wait to see if it lives up to the hype.
