Solo Leveling?

cetoceto Member UncommonPosts: 21

Hi folks,

I'm thinking of returning and trying 2.0, how is solo leveling nowadays? Is it still a few quests with %80 percent grinding for levels or is it possible to level entirely with quests. I plan to group as well, but I want to know what my options are for solo leveling as well.

Thanks!

I just recently came back to check out 2.0 and I gotta hand it to NCSoft.  They have added a ton of quests, although you will still end up doing some repeatable quests to fill in the gaps.  From what I have read you shouldn't have to grind mobs to reach cap.  Also, quest turn ins give you more XP now as well.

If the lack of quests was your big turn off I'd say come back and check it out, it has changed for the better in that area.

Thanks for the response, yes the lack of quests was my biggest turn off, I hated grinding mobs with a passion. I'm going to check it out again, thanks again.

Which class is good at solo PvE?

Hows the death penalty?  I found it suicidal at launch.  Massive snare while heading back to where you were pretty much meant you stayed at the respawn point for the 5? minutes it lasted.  Not about to spend money to stand still.  Same now?

Are you sure you're talking about Aion?

Because Soul Sickness and debuff were cured immediately by Soul Healer at the Obelisk.

The cost for soul healing used to be quite hefty, but they've lowered it and increased incoming Kinah so it's only the run back to the spot you were.

To OP: I returned 3½ weeks ago and started fresh. Mainly soloed and now I'm lvl41. They've made it so easy.

I've liked my Gladiator this far and it seems to be quite a good choice (unlike my launch character assassin).

the best hands down for solo PVE was a Spiritmaster, they can kite and solo elites for insane amounts of exp. like with double exp weekend and amulet on i was getting like 1 mil per kill and that was before the exp changes. that and kiting elites was pretty fun for me was difficult, high gains but easy to die doing it, takes some practice and need as much + spell hit as you can get.

seeing as how + spell dmg did very little for spiritmasters + spell hit is a must. i was soloing elites 5+ levels above me. that and they was very good in PVP for WHEN you get jumped. tip of the day tho would be to equip "body root" its not actually a root at all but a melee silence, prevents rangers and melee from using special attacks, like 20 sec cd lasted like 16 seconds.

Best solo class in my exp was the Cleric.

Get some mana pots and you can solo elites all the way up,(except world bosses)

They also excell really well in groups and in pvp as they hit almsot as hard as a sorc if you stack MB.

Also what group doesn't need a healer?

We all can only be who we are Nothing more nothing less.

I played at launch for a month.  Back then, soul healer was too much.  Heck back then you could go broke just using the transport system :p

Definitely interested in picking it back up now that from what I read, its not hardcore, not a gank fest and content has been filled in.  That and I'm so bored of MMOs I've already played to death.  Just can't stomach rolling an alt to go through the same content over again.

I was in the closed beta, and I bought the collector's edition because the game looked and played phenomenally.  And when the game launched, every high level character was out a^& raping the much, much, much lower level characters.

    Is this still the case?

Not anymore...rifting in PVP area is dead. Even if you do meet a rifter they have a debuff that reduces their atk. The abyss is the only place you can still get raped. Its easy to stay away from there though. They are working on rifting to make it better.

That's good news, sort of, I guess.

How about the gold spammers?  Do they still control all the chat windows?

Its really rare to see a goldspammer these days. Every once in a while I'll get pm'd by some poor soul who has lost their account to hacking but you won't really see it in chat that much.

I have heard they do have solo instances.

I mean in zone chats and stuff like that.  It was so bad when I left that people couldn't even see each other talking.

Are players allowed more than 3 characters per account yet?

I've pretty much lost all hope of instances outside of Dark Age of Camelot being "soloable".  Every instance I've seen in an online game since then has been packed with elites and higher.

I found sorcerer exceptionally easy to level and this was at launch. I mean, I was lvl 32 in two days  of hardcore playing. Then deleted it and got another character on the asmo side to lvl 46 or so over the next few weeks. It's a pretty easy game to solo in.

Sorcerer is definitely the fastest, although the Ranger really starts scaling upwards after 20+

He who keeps his cool best wins.

I really didn't have a problem with the leveling speed of my Elyos Cleric.  It was the 1) ganking, 2) gold spammers, and 3) lack of character slots per account that made me quit the game.

So far it seems the ganking and gold spammers are somewhat resolved.  What about the allowed characters slots?  I know that no game in the history or future of online games is ever going to beat Dark Age of Camelot in this department (300 character slots across 10 servers that are all playing in the same virtual space), but it's gotta be better than the 3 slots per account that we were allowed at launch, right?

There may have been 10 servers when Aion launched, but we were only allowed 3 characters, period.  That (*&^ didn't fly (heh, ironic use of that cliche) with me, and I quit the game.

You can have up to 8 characters totally on your account. That's on all servers. Meaning you can make 5 toons on one server then 3 on another server and your done.

Well, that still kinda sucks, but I guess the game's worth another look with the other two points "cleared up".

    Thanks for the info.
