So whats changed in the noob experience, please enlighten us? You've called its currrent state : "difficult ,tedious and frustrating!"

Try reading again dude, Slapshot was reffering to the overall gameplay.

I've never said the noob experienced changed which is why I stated earlier in this thread MO is not ready to be handing out free trials to the public.

Reading comphrension Mr, the tedium of starting out and figuring out what to do. It's tedious because you're literally working out how to move properly and what's a good starting point. This should be given to you at the very least.

Actually tedium means being bored.. or the state of being bored by repetition.  I didn't find figuring out what to do to be tedious.  I found it to be frustrating.   To me, it became tedious when I had to go hit the same mobs hundreds of times.. or mine the same tree.. or rock.  YMMV though.

Yes.. Hanover was asking how the tutorial would help with the tedium.. the repetition.  I agree that a newbie tutorial woud help with the furstration of plopping someone into a world without any idea what to do or how to do it, but I don't see how that would help in any way with the tedium that develops after a short time.

Tedium doesn't develop after a short time, I do agree MO could use more content/tools to use but what we have now is fun. Sometimes you have to make your own content in the sandbox world, guilds do this, player run events do this, new poltical changes do this ect ect.

Well, I'm afraid that the only way I will ever experience MO is thru a free trial.

No love or hate going in, but if I like(d) it, I'd buy it.

I doubt there will be a free trial, in a month or in a year.

The result of a trial would be the same as the result in the open beta.. we all know what that did to a highly (unfunded) hyped game.

I first saw some videos of MO on Youtube and thought this is the next big thing. And then I tried it. And then I quit while still playing for free, as most of the beta testers that didn't already pre-ordered.

Good luck to those that actually pay real money!

No, any player actually interested in sandbox game play would be like:

"Oh this game has a potential, but it still needs at least 6-12 months of ADDING content and ironing bugs to provide enough content for wider audiance. "

    Exactly :)

And that's what they'll say in another 6 months. Word for word!

I think some people are still sitting on the sidelines like the guy above.  I think a free trial would get them off the sidelines one way or another.

Slapshot that poster is ME on the MO forums there, although you assume I'm some rabbid fanboy I'm not. I tell the game as it is. I knew there would be bugs with the epic patch so I'm unsubbed until they're fixed. I do agree a free trial would get people off the sidelines but for the reasons I stated earlier I don't think we're just quiet ready for free trials.

The bugs will be gone within a week and I'll continue playing an awesome game, I enjoy the game very much but I'm not a sucker when it comes to my money, they do have to have iron it a little first.

Sigh like i've explained on these forums previously I orginally unsubbed for uni (no time to play) and to wait for epic. I see no point in resubbing until the few epic patch bugs are ironed out. Probably next week. My guild mates keep me upto date on whats what.

Are you kidding?   Fanboys certainly don't have to be paying for what they are in love with.   I don't think he is a fanboy but I am suprised by the comments based on not being in game currently (which I have already mentioned elsewhere)

I think he is not a fanboy for this reason:  Why would you make posts that would encourage people to play a game, when you feel it is not worth paying for for yourself.  It must be to sabotage their experience so they never play again.  I hope SV doesn't plan on getting by just on a revolving door of box sales.

    I've explicitly said again and again MO is not ready for a free trial. I'll tell it again;

1.) Fix the bugs brought with the epic patch, 2.) tweak the AI some more, 3.) introduce a noob friendly starter experience

MO is a very good game it's just unfortunate that this huge patch has messed some things up. I'm pretty sure it'll be resolved in a week tops however.

This is what I have always found curious.   When you overhype a game, you are just setting people up for disapointment.  This is why I would love to see a free trial.  Let people go and see for themselves.  If you look back to January you will find the exact same situation.   People saying the game is great but just needs a few more tweeks. Just a bit more "polish".

Here's the bottom line for me.  If a game isn't "Ready" for a free trial... it's certainly not "Ready" to be charging people for a client and a sub.  Now I am not saying that everygame should have a free trial on day one either.  That just causes massive population issues which would require lots of servers initially and then low pop on them after a month.   That however is quite a different situation than the one we have here.  In this situation the same people what hype the game, are the ones saying that it shouldn't have a free trial yet because the game isn't "Ready". (Heck some of them aren't even subbed due to the state of the game!) How can something be ready enough to charge people but not for a free sample?  That seems totally backwards to me.  Don't charge a damn fee until it's "Ready"!

right now if they made a trial version, people would try it and never look at the game again.

So MO was technically sound prior to this "epic patch"?   (stability,bugs,...)

In your opinion then, MO will be ready for a trial in a "week tops" and you'll be resubbing then?   Ive been trying to get some timeline since you said it wasnt ready.
