Their is nothing wrong with a 13 year old playing MMORPGS at all, too many people judge by their age when many of them can be mature for their years, hell my 5 year old bro loves playing halo on the pc and belive it if you will he is actually good at it. So obviously i see no problems with the young people playing games, for some its acutually good for them such as children with types of problems (ADD/ADHD etc) these games give them somthing to concentrate on like my little brother, ok im straying from the topic now so anyways i see no problem with a 13 year old playing mmorpgs and i think they should be aloud to enjoy the great gaming experience just as much as a 30 year old.
hehe i agree, i mean life only gets harder with time.
yes i remember school. lookint back at it, men it was easy. All you had to do was read a couple of text books, memorazing stuff for biology history and classes like that and you were set, at least a B

Only when you are studying calculus 2, advanced algebra, differential equations you start appreciating school. And having an real idiot boss makes you wish you had appreciate those school teachers.
If you want my advise try to enjoy life while a student, it only gets crappy with time.
I am 14 going on 15 right now and my parents couldn't care less. One, I pay for all of my own things except for electricity, water, and cable. Everything that belongs to me, I bought. Another thing is, they have enough trust in me to know how to decipher reality from virtual reality. So they know I won't try to go stealth and try to back stab some teacher in the hallway while I'm going to class... They know that I know that it's all animated violence and much, if not all, of it can never happen.
I dunno guys, I really think that there are a lot more interesting things that you could be doing with your time while you're under 18. When you're a kid you have time to play and do all sorts of other cool stuff outside and form really close bonds with other kids. Also, once you turn 18 and look back on all the years you played MMO's you'll really wish you'd spent more time paying attention to those highschool girls. Oops, too late now!
Otto!
I'm looking for some friends that I lost contact with over the years...

I'm 16, I play MMO's, and I've never had a girlfriend, and have not yet received my first ever kiss even.
I just can't be arsed, I can't say I'm happy living this way, but it's a better alternative then what 90% of the other people my age do in the Netherlands. They're mostly all jocks and sluts. I like to think I skipped a few years in the "maturity level". What other kid my age fully read and understood Sun Tzu's Art of War and actually loved reading it? "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted" as John Lennon once said. And I enjoy wasting my time behind my PC rather then in a bar getting drunk and laid. Sorry, you might see me as odd. However, I am not anti social or something, I have many real life computer nerd friends too. And I work.
If ignorance is bliss, you'd think people would be happier when you point out what morons they are!
Haha, this is the first post I've ever seen where someone has mentioned Dune II.
Eh, maybe your parents don't want you devoloping a dibilitating phobia from society as you level your 4th character to level 60 in 3 months. Today, I honestly wished I never had a computer. Without it, I'm sure I'd be getting laid a lot more often...

Its not our place to judge who can and can't play these games. I am taking all honors/AP classes (well, the max amount possible), in my school, am enrolled in the band, never felt the need to get a girlfriend (and i'm an intellectual.........some people call us nerds, but they will be cleaning bathrooms for me in 5 years. ) since i'm concentrating on getting the best degree i can. Planning on going to college, getting my degree, then going to veternarian school, getting my doctrate there, then going into the field of veternarian medicine, then after i get some field experiance, i will go back to school and become a specialized veternarian in a feild i haven't quite decided apon yet. In the end, i plan on making a great income in the end. I am making straight A's, do all my homework well and within 30-1 hour, and i play mmorpgs, and yes, i play them ALOT, played Eq1 for 2 years, mabe more like 1.5 years, but i got to lvl 52, 3/4 way done with epic when i quit. Played Eq2 beta for 1 month, playing Eq2 right now, been playing for another month, i'm a lvl 16, and steadily rising. (i have decent gear, and will all my time put togetehr in that game with alts, not including beta though, i have about 3 days already, not much, but i do play them really well, and spend my time wisely) And i have played WoW (quit it just 5 min. ago, but i get to play till the 27th, i'll probly pick it up later along down the road), i got a level 14, a level 10, and 2 level 7's. And yet i still maintain my grades, am i rather good French Horn player, which i have played for many years, and i have been keeping a social life. All of which i did before i discovered MMORGPS, and am continueing to do them at even a level higher than before after playing my first massive multiplayer.

I play MMORPG's, not like its my job, but i do enjoy them quite alot. Ive played Everquest (30 day free trial, didnt like it) DAoC (few years off and on, 40 thane and thousands of alts) COH (millions of alts, none pass 18 haha didnt really like it) PS (fun but laggy, few monthes) and i have a super social life. Play sports or do extra curriculars at my school, right now im in Mock Trial, and play football and lacrosse. Currently i have no girlfriend, but i am choosing that. I have lots of friends and i always hang out with them on weekends. I have very good grades, i did make first honor roll. I would consider myself to be "cool" but ive never had any problems with nerds. Probaly most interesting people to talk to ya'll, try it someday. Ive met alot of good guys on MMORPGS and im glad i play them.
yeah...umm... back to the topic haha
listen to ur parents, they care about you, and thats why they wont let u play. My parents didnt mind what i did much because i had other siblings and im youngest and they know it wouldnt fog my mind. Im a freshman and im proud to say ive never truely hurt someone physically, and ive never drank a beer or smoked any drugs.
Counting down til xmas, by then i will get to play WoW weeeee!!!

yeah, when it comes to online gaming, i was way more mature at a younger age then i am now. Im 20 but i act like a 10 year old online. Why? Because its fun

Originally posted by Kiamde The reason I don't clan or play with younger kids 10-13 is because in games with a built in voice client like Socom II and Counterstrike scource, they tend to spam the mic with pointless remarks. They also sound annoying. I am sorry, but I don't want to hear a 12 year old kid with a high pitched and loud voice talk about his favorate skaters. Younger kids also tend to use less logic in the games. They don't use strategy, they often kill their whole team if they get angry or denied, and they can't seem to get the clue that they aren't wanted after they ask questions like "How do I set binds" or "How do I hak?!" over and over. I have met many mature kids. My old DAOC guild was composed of all age groups from 10-30 and I never would have been able to guess their ages until I heard them on Teamspeak. Hey, if you like games, great. If someone does not want you in their clan/team/group because you are younger, so be it. Kids don't have a great reputation on video games. -----------------

I find it perfectly fine for 13 year olds to play... Under 13 I would not say is appropiate. The only thing that would be bad about playing at a younger age is that you get too addicted when you first start, you may loose motivation in school and be careless. I started playing EQL, my first mmorpg, when I was 12. I was so addicted that when my dad would tell me to get off I would make excuses or stall him so I could play another 5 mins. Sometimes it became too bad, that it became my drug. But once the affect of the mmorpg crack wore off in a couple months, I was just fine. It was a good thing I started playing mmorpgs in the summer, else I would have failed my classes lol.
Good things come from playing mmorpgs, they take skill, social skills, and you learn more about computers. When I first started playing, I new nothing about computers, I was a console gamer. Now, I know much more then I used to, I know more about computers then most people I know in my school. I was 20 WPM when I first started to play MMORPGS, now I am 75 WPM.
I will never choose a game over friends or family, a game is temporary, friends and family are for life. One of my friends begame to choose his games over us, he wanted to stay home to play DAoC and not go with us to do anything. It becomes quite annoying when one of your best friends only talks about games and has no social life anymore. Now he got my whole group of friends to play, and they now have no life, they choose games over girls and hanging out with friends. When you choose a game over a girl, thats when you know you are addicted
I think if you show maturity to your parents, have playing times, like 5-7 pm or whatever, they will think you have the maturity and responsibility to play and still do well in other areas. If you work for your parents that always helps too.

As for the original subject, I dont really urge to log into any game any more lol. I havent found a game that I really like since FFXI, which I disliked after lvl 25. EQL still holds the #1 spot in my book. I have yet to play EQ2, just a few more days. I think im going to like this one
People need to make an importance chart where MMORPG's are posted. Let me give you an example, a close one to mine
Family>School>Friends>Sports or Extra curricular activities>Girls (girls are important yall but this is in life in general)>MMORPG
MMORPG's are great, you have a bad day, have fun on a MMORPG. You can hang out with your friends online and go battle with them! Rainy day out or you got nothing to do during a saturday afternoon. Remember, that being said, dont sacirfice your real life for a game. It's just a game, and you can always log on and play whenever, but you can't always get your friend back that you ditched or re-study for that exam that you failed. Life is real, MMORPG's arent, but i'll be damned there fun!!!!
ok first of all im 14, so i may not be taken seriously by U PPL(some) but i acctually cant think of a better time to play mmorpgs. i mean, no offence, but wen im 30 i dont plan on staying home playing an mmorpg, spending 10 bucks a month to gain things that dont exist wen i have a family to feed.
i also dont get y u ppl get angry at beginners for not having experience. for 1 thing u talk like al noobs are 12 years old. second, ifthey had a massive knowledge of the game, there would be no point in playing. Also, gaining that knowledge would require hours of sitting in front of a computer.
now, i do understand the part of obeying ur parents, and that it is better if u dont get hooked on an mmorpg, but i dont get ppl who started talking about how imature we are.

A) go behind your parents back and get the game...
or
respect your parents opinion, because in the end they're most likely trying to do what they think is best for you
probably should respect their view and juust suck it up, no matter how bad you want to play... but that is my opinion

Play free mmorpg like said earlier: runescape, and many other games
or hang out with friends. U better think about it...

If you work for your parents that always helps too.

lol, thats pretty good I have like spurts of speed, I go really fast to like 100 WPM then to about 50 in a matter of a minute I dont know why, I need to keep an even pace.

Peace and Love Ya'll,
Yawnster- 36 thane lancelot
Yawnsbow- 21 hunter lancelot
Yawnsclaw- 10 savage lancelot
Yawnsbone-15 BD lancelott
(get the idea, HA)
That is similar to mine.
Religion>Family>School>Friends>Girls>games.

ok first of all im 14, so i may not be taken seriously by U PPL(some) but i acctually cant think of a better time to play mmorpgs. i mean, no offence, but wen im 30 i dont plan on staying home playing an mmorpg, spending 10 bucks a month to gain things that dont exist wen i have a family to feed.
i also dont get y u ppl get angry at beginners for not having experience. for 1 thing u talk like al noobs are 12 years old. second, ifthey had a massive knowledge of the game, there would be no point in playing. Also, gaining that knowledge would require hours of sitting in front of a computer.
now, i do understand the part of obeying ur parents, and that it is better if u dont get hooked on an mmorpg, but i dont get ppl who started talking about how imature we are.
Recognize.

allways remmeber:
you're special,
just like everyone else.
I once got owned by a very skillful and polite master warrior/wizard in Dark ages. turns out he was 8.
Before that I would have said no, but he has proven to me that anyone can be mature, responsible, and not annoying.
...though they tend not to have the most original names....
