What I miss most

About oldschool MMO's is the exp parties.  I mean the exp parties where you get your group together in town, travel to some dungeon or camp, set up shop, and the tank starts pulling.

I miss the occasional train, the INTERACTION with other people in the server.  Now, all of that is long gone.

I was 13, my first real mmo was EQoA for the ps2 and it was a blast.  My next game was FFXI when it came out for the ps2.  I know everyone hated the first 15 levels of soloing and not really knowing what to do.  It gave you time to explore the city, explore the starting areas, find your first NM to camp....anyone remember Spook?  When night hit Ranperre's Tomb, we all gathered and waited to test our claiming skills.  The first time I saw everyone standing around the tomb, I was confused, when he spawned I actually got the claim but died because I was only lvl 13 or 14 with no subjob, it was exciting!

Remember your first skillchain?  That was an awesome feeling to have to acually work with your party....Remember when skillchains became necessary for good exp parties?  Offtank provokes, thief lines up for SATA behind the main tank, BAM, Distortion....and the main tank has hate for the rest of the fight..

Doing Sky was so fun, and then eventually having to compete with gil farmers for the pop items started to make it not so fun...

I was a Ninja main, I camped Aquarius for the cloth as a means to make gil, I had a running competition with this one gil farmer for the claim almost every time.  We even talked to eachother sometimes while we waited for the spawn, if he got the claim I would stand next to him while he solo'd it hoping he would lose claim for even that split second, and he would do the same to me.  We knew it was all in good fun but hey that cloth was worth a lot of money and business is business,  When the Axe dropped I would always shout to the zone and see if anyone needed it, and the warrior's were always greatful.

And then they day came that it no longer dropped the cloth.  I was devastated, I mean, how many ways can they nerf farming in a game where you actually HAVE to farm for money.  Oh well.

I quit ffxi after the game made you go back to level 30 to continue the storyline, it just wasn't my thing, I forget what it was called. In my eyes, they have torn the game aoart in so many ways since what it used to be.

Anyways after FFXI, no game has ever been the same, i've tried almost all of the P2P and  few F2P's, no matter how much I level or how fast or awesome I get new gear, it never ever feels as rewarding or epic as the time I got my Kirin's Osode, my epic monk weapon in EQoA,  or really, any piece of gear in FFXI.

Does anyone feel the same?
