Here's hopinf its out for play soon!!!   I loved the GW1 Necro and could never decide weather it or Elementalist ( followed closely bt Ranger) was my favorite.  They all had thier place.

Not that I wanted to get caught up in hype but I feel hopelessly hyped for GW2 and loving it.

while i was not a fan of GW1 i cannot help but notice all the good reviews coming out of this new GW.

And the devs seems eager to let people review it so maybe they feel confident in their product.i think i will be buying it

    Can't argue with that.

Nice little insight into the game.

What I'm really interested in though, is how PVE and PVP combine, and how they differ from GW.

I loved the original PVE questing portion of GW, but got bored when it turned into a lobby. I also didn't like the (card-style) skill system.

I know GW2 has retained a similar (card-style) skill system, which I'm not crazy about..but if there was a solid PVE experience I may consider playing it. Is there a persistent world with quests, etc? Any news on how PVP will work?

I read yes on persistent world and PvP may be something similar to Realm vs Realm.

can't wait to spend an hour making my character :)

Yeah the RvRvR Mists are persistent for a while then get reset after a time (possibly giving a pve buff to the winners)

    If I remember correctly...

Anet absolutely delivered with GW1. It was innovative, fun, had some of the most unique and and competitive PvP scenes, proved that a P2P model is not absolutely necessary, etc

You don't sell 6 million copies by accident. People had to make they choice to whether to spend money on GW1 or another game.

And it doesn't matter if people didn't play it for years since, as far as profits go, Anet cares mostly about the game purchase.

I think this something people are seriously underestimating. Unlike subscription games, GW2 doesn't need to keep the same players spending countless hours in their game. They just need them to try it out, and hopefully stick around long enough to spend a few bucks here and there.

Think about it, how many of you would dish out $50-$60 bucks for a AAA MMO that you can play as much as you want, whenever you want, without EVER paying a subscription. I know I would, and so will a large part of the MMO community even if it doesn't become their "main" game.

GW1 was succsessful. 6 Million copies is good but how many played the game more than 1 minute? more than 1 hour? Anet may not care if players stay or leave as they already got their profit but players care. Not many people want to play a game that has a community size of 100 (for example).

People shell out $50-60 on AAA MMO's that they can play whenever they want, as much as they want and it DOES have a subscription. Sure sometimes people many have a bit of a financial issue and maybe have to cut back but then you shouldn't be playing MMO's if you get to this point, should be working out how you can get out of the mess your in to be honest.

GW2 will be succsessful, but i don't play MMO's because they are making a profit. I play it because its good. Sales and quality of product are not the same thing.

I wonder if Arena Net has a way of tracking the total time of all combined accounts from the beginning of the game's release that players have spent logged in. I know that the game really doesn't care much about staying logged in, but they could give a pretty nice fat round number to prove that their game has been actively played a lot.

Once you go go whack, you'll never go back.

What is this "whack", you say? Check out the links!

There are still a lot of people in it years after release even if some places are rather empty by now. But as long as I played have there been a lot of people playing it so I am pretty sure it have been played a lot even if some people just bought a single campaign and played for 3 days.

They log how log each account have been playing but adding those number is probably a lot of work that can be used better.

Same for me.  I feel like I've been waiting for years.  Well, it has been years, lol.  Nice to get a good impression about the actual gameplay; it sounds immersive, challenging and fun.  I sooo can't wait for this game to release ^^
