Huh its about time..Tired of these hackers...To bad they couldnt take the 5000 others along with the 3 men..
Remember those 5000 people Blizzard busted for cheating in Starcraft II? Well the developer is going after those responsible with a vengeance, taking three men to court..

Blizzard is suing cheat makers, not cheat hackers like you claim.
Did they not trace them to Brazil or some place in South America. Are they suing them ? Hmm
I wonder if these guys have the money to be sued for. It would be hilarious is they grabbed a wealthy guy and made him poor.
go Blizz...
1 in Peru. 2 in Canada.
The case will be held in Los Angeles. I have no clue whether or not they can extradite the guys. I suppose it might be possible if the US government and their government have an agreement already in place on things like this.
I love Blizzard's aggressive stance on cheats. First, Glider (or whatever the hell it was called) and now going after cheat developers. I hope they nail em all to the wall.
To bad they couldnt go after the other 5k people who used the hack program..They knew what they were doing..haha
I'd say their work results in virus-like consequences, ruining the online game for most folks. Thus, I back Blizz 100% on this one.
If somebody wants to cheat on a single player game, I say knock yourself out. But on a multiplayer online game? It makes you the ultimate loser. And for these guys to enable that...
Now, everytime someone plays, they'll wonder if the other guy is cheating. That absolutely, 100% destroys the experience, even in a legit game.
I agree. Unfortunately, all Blizzard can really do is ban the accounts. $60 let's the cheaters back in. I fear the crapstorm of cheats that D3 could be.
If it was a weathly guy they would be able to afford a decent lawyer.
edit: oh they're suing cheat "makers" ? My first post was lame anyways :P.
I hope Blizzard loses in court, they already banned 5k account, those people probably will end up buying another copy of the game. Suing people is lame.
Everytime i see Blizzard, greed comes to mind. I bet Blizzard will sue anyone and everyone if they could.
Those that use hacks should be banned forever, and those that made them should be in jail.
It's as simple as that. I dont know why some people think that blizz shouldnt ban hack users, they are making game undesireable to play for millions others...

I heard they ban accounts that don't cheat in multiplayer too.

Not necessarily true.....While these people may be 'smart' - many of them are also very stupid. Case in point, the woman Blizzard recently sued for running a private WoW server. She had earned over 3 million dollars on said server over the past 2 years. She didn't even show up in court (and nicely lost an 80 million judgement !)
If you make a cheat and then try to profit from it you deserve to be sued. Not that I am endorsing the making and distribution of cheats free or otherwise, but if your going to be an ass and cheat anyway, why do it for profit?
These guys will get what they deserve. Even of they get off it's going to cost them some serious cash for lawyers.
This is good news!
Down with Hackers!
FYI.. you cant' extradite someone in civil court, only criminal..
you're right! let the them do what they want and ruin a new game! Blizzard is just greedy!
suing the creators of the hack is the only way to get it to stop.
Too bad...
We live in a Land where the "criminal" has sympathy. Unless the crime is Murder and its personal, no one really cares.
All what the lawsuit will do is just create scrutiny and bad publicity against Blizzard. Amazing how Blizzard will sue several hackers but not sue the hackers who created the Free to Play, Private WoW servers that are floating around. I guess its about opportunity and politics.
Although hackers are to be punished Blizzard won't win. Specially when the Defense asks the plaintiff why single out three people out of 5,000 and the numbers that came before...What is so special? And cross-reference them. That alone is easy enough to prove Blizzard to be Targeting those they think is a case and under the letter of the law, the courts are not allow to apply an exception of the law to one man.
Of course I am not surprised if Blizzard wins...Anyone can bribe a juror (or a senator) for that matter in this country.
We live in a lazy society where some web admin knows nothing about preserving file integrity and decides to chmod a directory to 777 and retain guest login and anonymous login and you wonder why these same people are the ones crying "hacker" when they literally let people login and delete their files.
I wish other companies would do this to creators of hacks for games. Specially in the FPS market, aimbots enemy markers, shooting through walls all that crap just ruins games that would otherwise be fun. Go Blizz and heres to hoping that other development companies jump on board and squash this crap.
So to get this straight your problem is that they sue hackers but not private servers?...
"Blizzard ushered in the month of October by showing Starcraft II cheaters the door, suspending or banning roughly 5,000 players of the real-time strategy game for using hacks to gain an advantage in the game. Days later, the company went after some of the people responsible for the cheat programs."
They banned cheaters because it is against the EULA they are suing the CREATORS of the hacks for copyright violations its not too hard to make that case.
People who create programs to cheat other software are morally bankrupt and criminals of the worst kind in my book and deserve any sort of punishment that can be meeted out.
At the very least, if Blizzard wins they'll have the right to pursue various webhosting sites and ask them to stop distributing the programs.
Also, don't assume that other countries such as Peru aren't goverened by a rule of law and Blizzard can't go there and sue the makers armed with the judgment received in the US.
I salute Blizzard's efforts and am glad they are using their financial might to make a point, where smaller firms can't really go.

Go get em. People who make hacks and cheats are wastes of skin and those that use them online are just a-holes & losers. Just getting a criminal record even if little money can actually be squeezed out of these basement dwellers, is enough to screw them over for a long time. The odds are they're programmers, so you think any business will hire them knowing they've been found guilty of cheating people? Talk about mistrust. I wouldn't hire an designer that lies on his reel/resume and tries to pass someone elses work off as his, which happens far too often.
