Hi guys,

I am here seeking advice in my first post! Basically, I've been playing WoW, LOTRO, and Eve Online on and off in recent years and have become a bit bored of them all. I began looking for something new, and don't have a great amount of time to dedicate to an MMO, as such it's important than the time I do invest is rewarding! I went on a friends advice and got Aion. So far I am enjoying it, it seems to have had a big patch recently and running around the world, it does seem well popular however...

I checked the forums and they're full of people claiming the game is dying. I really don't have time to play the game only for it to shut down or have a tiny player base...I want lots of players and PVP etc..I then went on to have a look at Age of Conan, however the forums say largely the same thing. I may give LOTRO another go, however the lack of PVP is a bit off putting.

Should I ignore this forum stuff? Should I stick with Aion, try AoC, or try LOTRO again?!

Please help, I feel like a true idiot lost in a sea of forum trolls and hope this (potentially more objective website) can help me find the right MMO!

(p.s, I absolutely refuse to return to WoW, it has grown very stale for me! :D )

If your enjoying Aion id say stick with that.

Now i cant say that the people on these forums are wrong that state the game is dying. But i can say that you should take whats said on these forums lightly. Very Very Lightly.

Stick with whatever game you enjoy, ignore the doomsayers :) Aion is a pretty good game, played it abit at launch but my friends didnt like it so i moved on aswell, currently not playing any MMO's. Playing some Mount and Blade: Warband while i wait for GW2 ^^

I doubt Aion or AoC is dying, you should try AoC if u dont mind abit loading screens / zones, instances etc. Its a really good game imo, the only reason i quit it is because the loading / instances really bothers me :P i enjoy a more "open" free world.

AoC just released an expansion back aswell so i doubt its dying.

    Currently Playing Path of Exile

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Just ignore the negative parts of the forums.  Everything that lives will eventually die as nothing lasts forever.  So if you find a game fun, just play it until you can't play it anymore.

Even if a game has a large population, if those people don't play with you or you never encounter them, then it's the same as having a small population.  If a game has a small population but you find yourself fitting in with them and playing with them on a daily basis, then the population size no longer is an issue.

Wait for games like TERA or GW2.

Age of Conan is not a pvp game anymore, but they managed to turn it into a good pve game.

I would stick with whatever game you're enjoying.

However, why not check out those other games if they have a free trial or have a free version to try out? You never know.  You might find something you enjoy even more.

    ...and welcome to the forums.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
