Hey guys, thanks for checking this out.
What am I looking for?
A game with decent population. I absolutely love Vangurd and Ryzom, but my last forays into each made me feel like I was the only person playing. I typically play after 8pm PST, but really I could be on at any point given my odd hours and schedule. Again, I'll gladly hear pitches for those games if you believe I am mistaken. I do enjoy the idea of a decently large community.
I'm willing to pay, but I'd like a free trial first.
I tend to dig sandbox games and games with faction PvP, but neither is a requirement.
Prefer swords to guns at this point. Combat systems that are atypical get my interest a bit, but not a requirement.
Thanks in advance, I hope that gives an idea of what I'd like.

I'd check Ryzom once more. It's possible the population may have picked up enough for you, or you may be able to find a guild with people regularly playing at your usual play time.
Otherwise, given your list, all I can suggest is Darkfall.
I'd suggest Final Fantasy 14 because it seems to meet all your requirements. However, consensus is that it is a polished turd. I don't know myself, haven't played.
Check out Darkfall too. Population may be a bit low, but not as much as Ryzom experientially. Graphics are nice but not mind-blowing.
