I don't want to continue to have to stress that there is a huge difference between a live game and a game in beta.
You do understand that what you are saying has to do with live games and not beta games, right?
It's a thin layer.
Should it be real, you really think the devs are going to unfriend such guild on live? That guild also gets to learn the game before everybody else; giving them an outsdanding advantage over their competition... Don't you think?
A thin layer?! Between live and closed beta?!
Believe it or not, friends of devs and employees - and *gasp* - employees themselves play their own game. Perhaps you should start a crusade where you call out all the employees for playing a game that they helped create and design.

Not my cup of tea, was just stating my opinion on that matter. And you look way to much cranked on that so I don't think arguing with you would lead this thread anywhere interesting anyway.
They'll always be favoritism in any MMO , the ones that invest time and money to actually help the Devs and GM on making the game better will in fact get some kind of reward. It ain't new and it ain't scandalous.
Now if a certain Dev ,judges best that the mass of one elite guild will put in a better input then a wannabe guild , then that is their choice. The MMO,once released, will see alot of sales and popularity.
Again , not because one game is a piece of trash to your eyes that it will be in another person's eyes. It ain't complicated to grasp but I guess some people just like being stupid and ignorant.
That Perfect World Entertainement favors one guild over another doesn't concern me. As long as my fun factor is there , then I see no problem. Like it or not , you'll get owned sooner or later which ever game you play. And I don't give a F"ck who you are. Geared up the arse or not , you'll end up getting owned. There is no "Fair" in war. It's all about catching your opponent by surprise. Too chicken to one on one you say? I don't care , I've got a heart of a pirate where rules doesn't concern me and your character's well being doesn't concern me either. It's all fun and game until someone gets hurt , then it's freaking hilarious!
Seriously get over it , it's only a game. If you think there's too much favoritism ,then don't play and move to another MMO, it's as simple as that. Why whine / cry / bitch over something if your going to play it anyways?

Yeah, I am "cranked". On iced tea and disbelief.
It is especially difficult for me to accept it when someone sees closed beta and live being separated by a "thin layer". One is meant for testing the game and bug reporting and one is paid for by the consumer. I can see a possibility that someone would view a "thin layer" in OPEN beta, but they are starting their CLOSED beta. And I think it's important to recognize this as we continue to discuss whether or not what they did was right or wrong.
Reading the byplay on the forum thread between some of the posters has certainly been interesting. Definitely several people with entitlement issues. The hyperbole is staggering. I am also making a list of names of People To Avoid.

RageQuit has been a long time pwe guild. so that argument is moot. if they wanted a good pvp guild that would have been the choice.. neways what pwe is doing is bull.. people who have been with them for ages havent even gotton a email period. yet the newbs in this other guild got in right away.. thats a big part of the issue.as well as like 90% of their guild got in.

Whining about not getting into a beta is kind of ...well funny. A gaming company does not owe you a beta regardless if you spent 5 years on their forums and played every single one of their games extensively for years. You are entitled to nothing
If they decide to play favorites it's in their own right to do so regardless of how lame you think that is. That lameness you feel creeping up on you is your own disappointment of not getting into the beta yourself
I was like.. "Man that's an interesting headline."
But then I was like...
TROLLED!
Whatever happened to real scandals? Remember when the main producer for that one game.. Hero's Journey I think, got in trouble for inviting housewives trolling his forums to his house for some adult beta testing? All hearsay, but still. All that 'outrage' over beta testing a korean grind game?
No it's not if they said earier that everyone have a chance to participate and get in. It screams bad publick relations all over it. It's not that hard to understand.
That's precisely what it is and nothing more. The company said that they would do one thing and then did another. However, since no money has yet changed hands there was no duty for them to stand by what they originally said or to interpret it the way the players did.
This snafu should lower the level of trust people have in the company but IMO MMORPG players already have and extremely high and unhealthy amount of trust in game companies and this kind of stuff brinks them closer to reality (and sanity).
Blaming them for corruption that has not actually yet happened is idiotic.
Let's see, some people are upset, that some other people, got something with no monetary or intrinsic value, for free, when they or others didn't get that same something with no monetary or intrinsic value, to which they were neither entitled nor had any claim whatsoever?
Well the 66 pages of replies in 3 hours to the official thread on the subject shows that this is not just something 'someone' is upset about. Dice it any way you want, the fact that guilds are upset because their shot at equal footing in the playing field, the fact that the guild in question most likely won't properly test the game or the fact that the favoritism may extend to other benefits in the release product - all those things, even if true, fades in comparison to the fact that players have now been shown that the makers of the game can be put in one's pocket.

See, you keep using incorrect reasoning in your argument, which makes it impossible to have an interesting discussion with you. Telling me I should start a crusade because I disagree with whatever they did is a fallacy. Trying to ridiculize my argument without even trying to argue is a fallacy. You took the time to deviate this discussion about 'thin layer' instead of just trying to answer my question. All of which aren't of any value as an argument.
Though for the sake of this thread, and to stay on topic, I'll explain my reasoning.
From what I understood from the OP, it seems there is already some accusations of favoritism against PWE over Forsaken World. Some posters then minimized favoritism in MMORPGs, saying that most of the time it is not gamebreaking. As you may have read in my first post, it happened before in multiple games, and favoritism in most of those cases were gamebreaking. No, I will not start a crusade about this. Nor will I try to discredit PWE or any followers in that matter.
Now to make this forum a better place, colddog04, I suggest you refrain from using incorrect reasoning to attack those who disagree. You did have some content in your posts, such as this not being too much of a problem in your eyes, because 'One is meant for testing the game and bug reporting and one is paid for by the consumer.' But I'm with Mercantor when he says 'Also, the fear that the favoritism may continue in the actual release product, which is a valid concern.'
So what I'm seeing here is a few very vocal whiners who belong to loser guilds who feel like they got their epeens stepped on when they weren't selected as "chosen ones".
It's very common for a large guild to be accepted into beta in order to test out guild functions. Get over it.
Who cares heh..I got an email from them this morning saying I wasn't chosen for the 1st closed beta but was promised to get into one of the closed betas, patience is a virtue. I am not even a huge fan of their games anyway.

Well, it appears I will have to say it one more time.
The instances you mentioned were for LIVE games. In this instance, people are complaining about not getting into CLOSED BETA because they feel like their selection process was unfair. The company said it was going to be random and some guild got in that wasn't part of the random process.
It is their CLOSED BETA. They are able to select whoever they want, however they want. The perception that this is somehow unfair is ridiculous. Other guilds do not have some right to be in the closed beta.
The guilds then go on to say that this selection process represents favoritism. I agree. They allowed those players that they felt would help their CLOSED BETA process work more effectively. They would like the people in that guild to help them test their CLOSED BETA.
The players apparently fear that this favoritism is going to follow into live. Until it happens, they have done nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever. I can "fear" anything I want to. It doesn't make those fears valid or invalid. My opinion is that their fears are completely invalid based this being a CLOSED BETA experience. They have every right to chose whomever they please.
Fear it when it actually happens on a live server. Until then, settle down.

You mean other games from PWE take a population hits?
Because how can a game that's not even out yet take a population hit.

Is now the time to rage quit?
pwe is being shady period.. if they werent doing this why are they locking and deleting threds by other guild as soon as the go up?

Because QQ threads are unconstructive. People are QQing that it's not fair. Multiple threads about the same issue get deleted here as well.
honestly ive gamed long enough to not really care what happens...lol....

It's called closed beta...i.e., they can pick whoever they want to get in. This is not news nor scandalous.

I don’t see a problem as long as at launch the servers are reset. Its up to the company who they have in their beta.
One of the guilds was Ragequit, those guys are entitled to rage.
