I think DLC would ruin this game for me to be honest. I have no problem with forking over money for an expansion or two a year, but I dont want to be nickle and dimed from release to expansion with dungeons and other conten that I should get in the next expansion.

The big problem is that we all know there will be exceptional items and what not in these dungeons that are pay to play. With this you start to run into problems that you get in WoW where if you do not have x, y, z title/armor/pet/achievement/etc you are not allowed in a party or guild and you start to get segregated from a lot of the community for not paying to get these areas.

The great thing about GW1 was that you were not required to spend a single cent on the game other than the box. The other great thing was that the expansions were pretty much stand alone games themselves that did not require the others. You could play the entire campain with all of the classes through it. This is what made GW so popular. No matter when you picked the game up you would be able to play years down the road without having to pay a dime.

I think it's more reasonable to say that they will look at how best to continue generating income from the game as they move past launch. some games have subs, GW1 had expansions, some games have microtransactions... They don't know yet beyond launch.

Does that sound likely? Does that sound like a good thing? Surely these decisions are made early on and the game built around them.
