The very first MMO ive ever played was EQ in which I was the worlds largest noob and didn't know what in the hell I was doing!
From there I went on to play wow at release but quit right before level cap....I Just started playing mmo's again probabloy a year ago...
I really loved LOTR about a year about, got my RuneKeeper to I think level 47 before I quit. I had SO many group quests and almost zero solo quests and it was truely hard to find ANYONE near my level wanting to group. I didn't really work on my deeds all that much and never really got into skirmishes alot. All in all, it was a very fun game, just lacked the poipulation that wanted to group-it was like I was alone in middle earth. (and would be nice to have gotten into PVP a bit)
I've been playing WOW for the past 5 months and have my mage up to level 78. I really enjoy it but after 5 months of playing casual everyday-I need to play something else for a bit....I loved the UI, Group Content, BG's, ect......
I downloaded AOC and only got to level 2 (I was still in the jungle)...I'm not sure what it was, but I didn't enjoy my first 20 minutes playing. I guess it just seemed like a low-end mmo and the UI with the arrows didn't catch my attention. Maybe I didn't play long enough?
What would be some good games to play til GW2 and The Rift came out..?
I enjoy pve solo and in groups, but I also like the option to do a little pvp here and there also.
I don't mind going back to the games I played before, but just want to keep my options open.
I was thinking lotr again, darkfall (although I dont know ANYthing about this game), eve, possibly GW?
I just don't want to be alone in the huge world.
Help me out please!
Playing: GW2, Planetside 2.
Trying out: Age of Wushu
Looking forward to: AA, Wildstar

If you like PvE with a little dash of PvP - Darkfall is pretty good. Huge world though so the population can sometiems get spread thin.
You really should get beyond level 2 to judge AoC. Honestly, it is barely teaching you the UI by then. You wont really even have a feel for how the class plays until level 10 or so. It is one of the better MMOs if you want to solo mostly. It has a similar problem to LOTRO about not being that group friendly, but there are certain quests with elite mobs that it is easy to find a gorup for.
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
how is the pvp on aoc and when is it introduced?
Is there any other info you could give me on the game?
Im currently downloading lotr and darkfall-who knows if I will even try lotr again though...
Also, any others..?

I'd suggest testing Wizard 101. It might not be enough to keep you occupied until GW2 comes out, and it's just a children's game. But it's fun, something different from WoW and Lotro, and it's well suited for a casual player. Costs nothing to try it out.
Or if you want something similar to WoW and Lotro, next good similar game would be EQ2.

Xsyon is a sandbox game in beta it should be released in about 1 month, read the features
Runes of Magic really isn't bad, although it is pretty WoWish. I wonder, though, if changing classes wouldn't do the trick. I got my Hunter almost to cap in WoW and got so bored I just couldn't play anymore. Since then I have leveled a priest and warrior to cap and had a blast and my hunter sits unplayed.
Going back to LotRO is also an option since there has been a large influx of players due to going free. Since you purchased a subscription in the past I believe you could play for free without all of the same restrictions that non-paying customers have.
I was pleasantly surprised when I went from Apprentice to full 5 star Elite in under 2 months. I was pleasantly surprised again when I went from Elite to just barely Hardcore in 2 weeks. Apprentice, here I come!
AOC can be good if you are playing casually. I used to play on Wiccana/US which had a decent (and friendly) population. It kinda looks silly for the first 5 levels when you are fighting in underwears with a huge stick :S Once you get to Tortage it's one of the best starter questline I've ever seen.
Aion can be fun for a while. It's not as much grindy as other may say, and the pvpve in there is alive and well. Though I'm getting burned out since I have this disease that forces me to craft all my own gear. I found myself spending entire nights farming 850+ titanium ores only to proc once every 20 tries just to make my Noble Durable Worthy set
For LOTRO I'd login and see how it is going in your area. It's probably much more alive than when you last played with the F2P going on.
a good game to try that would change your world is DARKFALL there is a free 2 week trial give it a try
if you want the link click here http://www.us.darkfallonline.com/
you do know that WoW is coming out with a new expansion in a month right?.... a lot of games will feel their population hemorrhaging come Cata.
anyways if you are looking for a game like WoW but didn't like AoC then maybe give Aion a try. it's a really pretty game with cool flying combat. there is a certain grind to the game.
if asian anime is not your style you should try Warhammer. almost exactly like WoW but with better graphics and a lot of world pvp. you can also level exclusively with pvp, and the levels come quick. the middle level can be a bit lonely. War has a free trial.
Yes I will be playing Cataclysm December 7th!
I absolutely hated Warhammer and I can't say I didn't like AOC because i've only played it for 10, maybe 15 minutes.
I'm not looking to quit wow or anything, just a mini-side game to play little by little... Im thinking aoc, lotr, or darkfall as a time waster.

there is sort of steep learning curve with AoC especially with melee chars that use combos. if you give yourself some times to learn how combos work they are very fun especially with fatalities.
also unless you have a very good comp that can run the game in DX10 with most things on high the game looks like crap. if you have a good comp it looks amazing. i really enjoyed my time in AoC adn the realistic low fantasy setting. it definately gave a feel of a bloody, brutal and barbaric era. you should definately give it a second try and at least finish all the quests in Tortage. i highly suggest a PVE server otherwise you will /ragequit after attempting to quest in Undetalls or White Sands. try a few different classes as well, casters play very differently from melee.
How bout tv?
