Everything already in game.

C0MAC0MA Member Posts: 522

The last podcast featured an interview with the lead dev, he stated everything that would launch with the game is already in game and being tested. Everything! Levels 1 - 50 and all end-game.

This is the most refreshing piece of news I have heard in some time on the mmo market.

If it's already all in game, let's jump forward and release it! Hate waiting for games.

Being in software engineering myself, this makes so much sense and I wish more video game companies would do that.

I started getting hyped up about Rift when I first heard in few game previews that the game already felt complete from a couple of journalists.

I am usually not one that beleives the mmo hype, but the development for this game has just seemed different from the others since the start. I think it will be the first MMO in a long time to actually be released with all its promised features at launch.

I agree I wish it was ready to launch but early 2011 will have to due for now. Game looks good and with all features in I'm pretty excited. Hope it won't disappoint.

if you listen to what he said most likely not everything is in the game... he said he was eq fan also an not everything was in th e game there so we will do the same.. just like everyone elses mmoprg in market lol. just like conan had end game also :), but not finished either. once again this is the nature of mmoprg... no one releases "finished"

He said they will have atleast 3 end game parts completed, when it launches.

Yes, no game releases 'finished', unless the game goes out of business before the first patch.

They plan on adding more content after release, they said they picked what they could get done and make work correctly by launch.  They didn't want to throw everything out there and have a screwed up release.

I hope they add non-instanced housing, in housing zones, and it would be nice if they had some customization to the type of housing and appearance.

Some media that have played the game in late Alpha, have commented that the game is at or beyond most games that are released anymore, so that is encouraging news.  They have things to finish/polish though, like animations, character creation, itemization ect..From what people say.

The guess is a Feb-Mar release, by a lot of people.

That's what I said before FFXIV was released and look at it now lol I don't want to return even if SE fixes it.

It is a big difference between in the game and working as it should, ask any Mortal online player.

It is of course good that they put in the features but there is probably still a lot of work. At least does it sound like they wont do a WAR and cut half the content 6 weeks before launch.

The game seems promising but be careful with assuming how it will be at launch yet.

Lets not over hype things. Let the developers take their time.

the main thing that is attracting me to RIFT is the lack of hype. IMO Producers dont need to lay the hammer on the Developers to hurry up and release.

I would like the Developers to use this time to add new features that believe players would enjoy.

    Dont rush!!!

    Dont Hype!!!

Yes do ask, and as one I can tell you this much , what is said and what is done is two different things. One thing I have learned from my years of MMO's is ... if it's a company that doesn't have the financial backing, history or talent to make an MMO.. there is your next Mortal and to be openly frank about this, I doubt this game will live up to the hype. I am all for the concepts, but like mortal , concept was awsome, execution? ya, well APB followed this as well.

You can use my quote on the subject if you like...

"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"

    QFT.

Technically, Cryptic could claim the same with STO.  I think all they did was shave the top 5 levels off at the last minute.  They've since added them, creating still an incomplete game not competitive in the slightest to any AAA title out there.

    Technically, crafting was there.

Technically, the 2 factions were there.

    Technically, ship interiors were there.

I don't recall anything that they promised not being there.  It's just there in a pathetic, barely workable state.

Not saying that that is what the Rift folks are doing... no telling til' open beta, after all...

    Just sayin'...

Trion was not trying to say the game is done, just what is going to be in at launch is in, and now they have to refine and tweak it....If it was in and 'done' they would be releasing it now, and skip beta.

Actually the journalists that have been trying Rift in a so-called hands-on interview told that the game looks finished. The developers are trying to deliver it really with all announced features well done, and at the moment are working on advertising and balancing... they seem to be very confident that they will deliver something big.
