I am so glad I don't have to worry about the HoM anymore. When it was first announced I was at 46/50. I looked to see what I was missing, mostly armor and one weapon, then went and got it. 50/50, yeppers got it covered.
You are more ambitious than me. I have been playing Guild wars since the beginning and have no desire now or ever to grind PVE nonsense in order to gain 1337 lewtz. I am a PVP kind of girl. This just doesn;t rock my world. I am not too keen on their implementation of the Hall of monuments into guild wars2, makes it seem more like an expansion manuever than something appropriate for a new game. I also think it will have a negative impact on the new player base, and may be more limiting than beneficial to the game. Instanced PVE just isn't my thing- so if it isn;t fun for me, no matter how shiny that carrot on a stick is I am not going to do it. * is stubborn that way*
Though I put many hours into the Guild wars series, paid my way just the same as everyone else, this is not doing anything for me. Oh well, I play games to have fun, not be given shiny carrots.
Heh, and still I havn't grinded that much, someone here said he had 47 points...
But it is just fluff anyways, I have a feeling few PvP people actually care about a Jellyfish pet or a bow with leafs on.
But I want the wheellock gun, I have some kind of obsession about whellocks... I must have it.
I only read the first page of comments looking for an answer, so sorry if this is a repeat question.
Why is it called "The Hall of Monuments"? Is there a hall with monuments in it?
When I originally saw the article and read the intro paragraph, I thought they were going to put momuments to players from GW into GW2 (time line backwards for that?)... that would have been cool.
Yes, there is a hall. Inside a strange building called "Eye of the north" there is a instanced hall with a scrying pool and places where you can put your minipets, statues of your companions, your really cool gear, banners with your achivements and similar.
Then there is a point system based on what you put in there where you get bonus fluff for the upcoming sequel.
Also, if you play all the content, most PVE titles come easily. Not talking about sweet tooth or so, but about Lightbringer, Norn title, Guardian etc.
Just play through all campaigns, on normal and then hard, with the bonus, and you got at least 7 titles (though not 7 points in the HoM). You can do Zaishen Title by buying the keys or doing Zaishen Elite (really easy) for balthasar faction, or just play real pvp. If you want more points for the EOTN titles, do all dungeons on normal and hard, and vanquish the areas. Take the books with you (like, Master Dungeon Guide etc.), free gold, experience points and faction for doing what you would do anyways. You can't turn in the normal mode books once you reached rank 8 though, so do it before to maximize it.
Lightbringer is easy to achieve when you do the Domain of Anguish, Deldrimor (Dwarven) is similar when you do Dungeons, just take the bounty every time.
Both the Black Moa and the Black Moa Chick are easy to get, too. The later removes the need to buy a unique minipet, if you don't get one out of birthday present or royal gifts etc.
Basically, 90% isn't grind, but just playing the game.
Kurzick/Luxon title is probably most grind, but still doable.
Drunkard is easy, with enough alcohol, just takes time. Use a timer or grog if you don't want to miss when you need to drink again.
If you play enough, you can reach rank 3 game title with costume brawl during halloween (until 2nd November or so), which is enough to add it. Winterdays and new year have their own festivals, too
sweet tooth - again, just by the stuff.
Armor for EOTN heroes is easy, just do glints challenge, the rest is more difficult, but nothing out of the world.
Your own armor, well, most materials are a bit costly at the moment, but with that much money you can make if you really want..or just wait until they are more "affordable again.
It's not like you are in that much of a hurry, they already stated that you can continue to add things to your HoM after GW 2 is released.
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
A ranger's pet is more than cosmetic, they raise it, it attacks on it's own. There is a difference. I have already owned Guild wars 1 since it's release, and all the expansions as well as extra slots. But since I am a PVPer and not " into" PVE this does nothing for me. Yea, I have known about it, I am saying I could care less about it. I paid my way the same as everyone else- and this does nothing for me. Yea, yea PVE complains PVP gets all the cool real prizes. SO be it.
PVE players may love this, as a PVP player it does nothing for me. I am entitled to not like the idea, just as you are entitled to like it. Should I like it just because you do? LOL
Those pets are still cosmetic. What's the difference between a regular moa and a black moa if they have the same skills. They just have a different skin, like all the other weapons and armor sets. But you are of course entitled to not like the idea
That being said I personally really like this. It has renewed my interest in GW and the population have increased a lot since this reveal, so it's really good for the game.
short and sweet ---- GW2 will have so many armor/weapon/title/pet varieties that grinding gw for the sake of getting a sword with flames etc is pointless

Oops, sorry for double post
"So the question is, will players jump at the chance to reach these achievements?"
There is no jumping in Guild Wars.
There is jumping, with the /jump emote.
