    Chudzuk.

    Think a bit.

    Hobbit.

now try another race and see what they have. Try a few. I think you'll find dwarf and human different from hobbit which is different from Elf.

You only get those type of quests in the shire once you leave that area you wont have that problem any more. If you start as any other race you wont be doing many if any of those type of quests.

    OMG

I just spent the last 5 or so hours running arround as a chicken to find out that you get nothing from it except 4 silver! You get another quest at the end which I am not willing to do as you have to run around as a chicken for hours and hours to complete all the deeds.

no thanks lol bad design idea b turbine :(

Honestly, the Shire quests are the most interesting in the game.

The rest of it is basically kill x of y (usually boars), usually to get drop z.

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there

You know hobbits are funny race in that world. they dont care about what happened world, they make parties, games and funny things. Shire quests are funny quests because of hobbit lifestyle.

if you try another race or leave shire then you see what is going on in the world. You see the truth of the world.

Actually, I think the chicken quests are great... they are funny and quite hard as well.

Just skip them if you do not want to do them...

Try a different race...think you'll find the quests there more intresting. Truth be told The Shire quests are actually fun and different from the usual stuff...

I think LotRO has some of the best quest writing of any MMO on the market that I have played.   They really thought about the lore when writing them.  It took me forever to level because I had to read each quest I got (some are fairly long).  I loved it.  Different strokes, I guess.

Chudzuk, I don't think you get it.

    The reward isn't 4 silver.

The reward is that you get to run around as a chicken.

So, if that type of novelty leaves you flat then as suggested, try the other races.

As a point of note my kin does chicken runs on ocassion and is even having a holiday chicken event this weekend. There are other players who do this as well.

You see, it's all about the novelty and absurdity of it. But some might not appreciate that.

Also, if you want to have a laugh at the lower lvl hobbit quests and their rewards check out theescapistmagazine.com and find "shamus plays". He does a series on LOTRO as a hobbit character.

I thought the game was dull when it launched, and it has remained true to this until today ;)

You dont have to do Shire quests as Hobbit if you dont want to, just go to Michel Delving stablemaster, swift travel to Combe and start questing there, same level of quests. (human area)

Combe isn't much better, that have to be like... 20+ Fed-ex quests there. You're an unknown adventurer, you're dealing with menial tasks. No way around it.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

    2/10

    Way too obvious.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

No kidding. Did you actually SEE the movies Chudz? If you had, you'd maybe understand how f'n boring they were. I'd pay twice as much for DVDs of the 3 movies without any Hobbit crap...it'd save me a good 3 hours too.

The shire does have alot of running around errand type quests, so if thats not your thing better to go to a different area and do those.  Remember there are so many quests in the game skip it if it doesn't sound interesting.  There is also the option to read the quest before you do it so you will know if the rewards are up to your expectations.
