This game will not make as much money as the devs would like. They have put in an unrealistic GPS style targeting for a weapon know as SPG (self propelled gun). These weapons sit still and hurl pinpoint shells at target across the entire map without ever seeing them. There are supposed radios in other tanks that give GPS locations and the SPGs just hit the shift key and get an unrealistic Satellite view of all the weapons so discovered and can target them with pinpiont one shot kills or severe damage.
The problem with these type of weapons is that they can kill even the strongest tank in less than 20 seconds and two shots. There will be those that argue this but the fact is if they keep hitting top tier tanks they get better and better experience and faster reload and higher percentage hits. The fact that they take your track off in one shot then another SPG finishes you off in a tag team effort then only two SPGs will remove the ability of any special gold bought module damage magic pixie dust to work before the second SPG blows you up wasting your use of the gold.
For those of you that dont know gold will cost you real money when the game goes live. This is supposedly extra income for a game that will no doubt have a subscription fee. The waste of this once or twice in this fashion and you will not buy it again. It takes too long for the gold bough special pixie device to repair your tank and you lose both your tank and your gold.
Less Revenue for Devs.

I recommend you to start playing SPG so you actually have a clue what you talk about.
As little you know about SPG and balance the little you know about the game and the payment model.
The game is and will be F2P.
/agree 100%
The OP is probably in a tier 2 light tank with no idea of how the game actually works. There are experienced light tank drivers in Leopards and such that can get into enemy territory without taking a point of damage by spg's and watch as the enemy spg's are destroyed. There are heavy tanks like KV-3 and up that take quite a few shots from artillery and the high end artillery is lucky to get off 2 shots in a minute, so it is essential that they make every shot count. In fact, there are medium tanks that have a far easier time taking out a heavy tank then some spg's.
Plus, once you get behind or on the side of an spg, its game over for the spg, with ZERO hope of defending itself. And with the terrain maps as they are, it is easy to move between buildings and hills to cover yourself from arty.
The OP probably sits right in the open of a field and wonders why the spg's are killing him.
So while there is still tweaking needed, and they should limit spg's per map to like 3 at most, it is not as bad as people make it out to be.
I do not like SPGs, but I played them for a bit and I have to say it's not as bad as they make it out to be. When the product goes live I have a feeling it will not be such an issue, there will be less SPGs per map and they will be in proper tiers. As it stands now the match making system having to be so lose and free with team allotments is mostly to blame.
The lower tier SPGs do not have the range or the destructive power of the higher tier ones, so when you are placed in matches with the big boys it seems like everything is an insta-gib. I get one shot by IS-3s and Tiger IIs more so than I ever am by arty playing a tier III or IV TD or Light/Medium. If you stop you will die, that is just a fact, now pausing is another thing all together...
We are BETA testing, one third of the game to be precise, so it's a little early to jump to conclusions. Yes arty can kill you, yes you can not strike back, yes you feel powerless, but that is not how the game will unfold with an actual population. Arrty is fine, it makes life hard when people do not play their roles or the roles are askew because of team make-up, but it's not the bolt of lighting you claim it to be.
If they release deco items and exp items in the cash shop they will make a lot of money. People go stupid for deco's and exp items.
edit:
I am unsure if you actually gain exp in this game but similar item to gain gold or whatever.
I saw almost this exact same post in these forums when APB was in beta.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Deco like a pink tank for girls that causes an auto pause as your tank crew laughs would rule!
Back to the OP's point, SPG do not ruin the game, bad players whining will. If you are in a light tank you better MOVE. You deserve to die if you don't.
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
I have the feeling that 90% of the people talking about SPGs never played them. They got severe limitations:
- nearly immobile, if anything gets closed they're dead
- many of them have a tiny amount of ammo. If you just keep shooting whenever you can target something, you are out of ammo before most combats are over
- they totally depend on other players. You can be as good as a player as you want to, if noone scouts the right way, you can't do anything
- some of them have a pretty short range (-> like a third of the map or less)
- some of them are incredible inaccurate. Even if you have the most accurate target, it's possible to miss with them
- they're not that easy to aim with. you have to guess the time of flight of the shell, where your target will probably be at that time, when it's time to move the whole vehicle (if it can't swivvel it's barrel 360°), when targets might leave their cover and when it's time for you to find a new place
- those of them that have a really long range also have a huge reload time
And the talk about "can kill any tank with one or two hits" is nonsense.
IF someone in your team discovers a tank and IF the target is not too close or not too far away and IF you can rotate your vehicle quickly enough to have the target in focus and IF the target is not behind any sort of cover and IF you got ammo left and IF you then hit the target, you MIGHT destroy it. But never in one hit, except when you are the strongest vehicle in your team and you target the weakest vehicle in their team. Depending on your strength and the victim and the equipment, you need between 3 and 5 hits to kill something.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
They had SPG in APB?
well I guess if your reffering to indirect fire then the ALMIGHTY grenade launcher would serve as a short ranged SPG... just kidding but I think hes reffering to the "Its beta, its too early to know" statement
As for OP I wonder if he actually plays the game or wether hes just here trolling, I get SPGs are a bitch but OP describes them as the frickin horsemen of apocalypse. 2-3days of playing, enemy artillery fades into the background, sure sometime they might bombard you to shit in a second or two but most of the time they are either firing at someone else or their working as a sort of suppressent.
Now whats funny is that t2 artillery is the easily IMBA candidate of them all even so then the T6 I mean Ive taken out TigerIIs with my bison and as for t2-t3 tanks their 1-2 shots then their toast. But maybe thats the problem OP is having, facing low tier SPG in a low tier tank, its a nightmare I know since I used to play with one frequently (back before SPGs would play with the training battles t1-t2) and I averaged probably 4 kills per game usually running out of ammo.
Compared to SU-5, Grille facing t5-t6 tanks its quite different however.
If you dont like being hit by SPGs either learn to play (know where to take cover, how to move through maps, shooting through cover etc) or get a high end medium tank such as Panther or T44.
And yes SPGs are a bit IMBA but nothing in the proportion the OP is putting it in, its quite funny actually how one can post so much about em. If he thinks their so good then why dont he play with em.
All the talk about "can kill any tank with one or two hits" isnt nonsense, its the whine of newbs who have just started playing the game and gets owned in noob battles by one hitting SPGs. Devs have to do something about it because getting higher tier tank is a royal pain in the ass and SPGs adds more flavor to it.
On high tiers SPGs are fine, but something has to be done to encourage players to play as a team and attack togather as tanks do more damage than SPGs but getting into combat range without support is suicide. Playing with friends on same class tanks (all mediums etc, mixed platoon isnt as effective) solves that problem. But greedy-ass devs decided that only paying players have priveledge to play with friends. On city maps SPG is just a cardboard tank destroyer with slow reload and bad accuracy, no whine there.
p.s. some SPGs (read HUMMEL which is a freaking imba) are so damn fast that even medium tanks might have some problems chasing it.
p.p.s. it seems that SPG have tiny ammount of ammo because they never stop shooting, though on high tier SPGs ammo costs a lot. Other tanks dont have the lucracy of shooting without being shot at, unless they are fcking heavies jerking off in bushes for the whole game.
p.p.p.s. though SPGs were never desinged as anti armor units, they variety to gameplay.
Edit: tommorow a Ru patch is coming out. US tanks, 10% less accuracy for all SPGs and 20% lower shell velocity for everyone. Rejoice!
IZI MODO?! Ha-ha-ha!
Too much whinning. If they took out artillery from the game you noobs would be complaining about something else.
1. I'm in a tier 3 tank and every shot at the back of a tier 7 and up tank bounces. what do they expect me to do? Why do they put me in with them?
Short answer- you are the scouts for the artillery and the heavy tanks. Wait till the other side spreads out then use the speed and what skills you have to light up the enemy arty and heavies? Did You forget to upgrade your raidio?
Every radio has a communication range that alerts everyone in range on your side where the enemy is hiding.
Everyone that moves from a tier 1-2 game has to learn a new skill set. You can no longer rush to the other side with guns blazing and expect to win. You can still be usefull by scouting the other sides positions or take out their scouts when they try and sneak over to yours. If you get lucky and make it over to their side without dying you get to kill their arty. and tie up or wreck their attack. I have seen some really good panzer 3 drivers being chased by over half the enemy team most of a match. We won the match easily. Our tanks just drove up in small groups and picked off their heavies who had no idea we were there. I iknow this because when you get killed in a battle you can right click your mouse jump to a working tank on your side. It was amazing to behold. If the other side don't try and take you out then your speed will allow you to get behind every arty and kill them with He.
Sure artillery can kill anything on the map but they are made of glass. Get to the side or behind them and they have no teeth. Shells are expensive and little by little they are making the shells miss more often. I don't know anyone that plays arty that doesn't worry about enemy scouts during a game or even being counter-batteryed.
You fangirlies need to take note during your games. If they had a stats page you would see that SPGs have the highest kill ratio of any weapon in the game.
