i myself, i am not interested in killing people. i am also not interested in pvp-fights. i would never go into a arena or ask somebody for a duel. why should i? that doesnt make sense to me. i kill people, because they steel my guilds ressources, or because we like to get theirs. unfortunately i have to kill them therefor.

i also like the superior strategic aspect of pvp. to plan, how to conquer an enemies teritory or how to get so strong, that they have to leave without fighting. such things are fun to me in pvp. but the fight itself one-o-one is no fun to me.

i guess we are different pvp-players.

I guess we are, whilst I enjoy and commend the style of pvp you seem to like (tactical, meaningful pvp ala EVE) I also like twitch pvp, hectic in your face pvp and hell any other kind of pvp. At times I enjoy combat for combat (being a naturally competitive person) and at other times I love all the machinations behind said combat.

I enjoy all aspects of pvp which is why I play a range of pvp games, the thing is I understand (as i'm sure you do to) that no single game really offers the best of all worlds, hence some games cater more to one type the others do. This variety in mmos is what the market needs, not some single focus hegemony. Which is why I will always ardently argue that DF should stay true to it's ffa twitch roots.

PvE content and Skill cep are easy to understand. I would need 2 others.

    - Skill/server/site control reset.

Basically, a fresh start. Application of new rules would require that, or all reviously buffed up chars would be trully overpowered.

    - Skill dependency on gear.

There must be some kind of "evolution benchmark" for gear. On a game that is skill based, and not level based, makes sense (for me) to use the skillsum (the sum of all points on all skills) as evolution benchmark.

I would immediately resub it the community shaped up. Never really had a problem with the game. It reminded me of a bastard child between EQ and UO which I liked. However, the community was abysmal. The leaders of the newbie intro guild that was formed loved to power trip and be dicks about things, but they were completely reasonable compared to some of the actual guilds/alliances out there. The tipping point was when guild leadership went on a giant immature sperglord rant about how they were all going to slaughter someone for accidentally hitting the mining stone that belonged to the guild and just slinging insults and overall completely overreacting in a similar manner to those ridiculous WoW videos where you see raid leaders raging over someone pressing the wrong key somewhere.

tl;dr when the community isn't being lead by power tripping man children, then it could be interesting to revisit.

Something needs to be done about the skills as well though. While it's all well and good to let people grind to infinity, between the people who exploited the shit out of things early on and never got banned, to the people who STILL exploit the game to max out skills, and just general "capped out" characters ruling the game over time if things naturally progress, something needs to be done.
