Team members come and go. This is nothing unusual really. Perhaps the only unusual thing is that our dev team is very close to the community so you realize if somebody leaves the team.
So do you have plans to replace these team members? Can we be expecting some new faces soon?
Who are these guys who left and why does it matter?
Quality Assurance - Probably left because of constantly being over stepped and his word never listened to with patches being sent out in a raw state; when he said not to. Otherwise fired for letting patches get released in the state where they broke more than they fixed. In reality probability a combination of the two.
Sound Artist - This one I am not entirley sure of how this story could go. However there have been many disputes inside of SV in terms of the hours put into the game, some people simply cannot dedicate their lives and sleep in the office day in and day out. Hard work alone doesn't always achieve everything.
All in all; this is an indication that something is going on within SV, whether an indication of the mood of all of the employes, or that heads are starting to roll. So I would expect a change up in the entirety of the Starvault staff all together; with this being just a precursor. To what end this is going; well I hope to something positive, but it's hard to remain that way with everything going on.
Thats not what I am commenting about. I could care less what they say in the bug fix notes. Usually whats in the notes isn't fixed or they added new bugs that are not on the list.
One of the guys who left writes patch notes so hopefully the new guy will do a better job.
Darkfall will take you guys back. Things are looking pretty good on our end. Sorry that things are not working out for you over there.
I am still kind of tossed between the two games. I like MO and enjoy playing it . . but consistency is also important. I am not sure I am willing to give MO up yet. I like the format of the game more. . . but maybe it is better to play something you love 70% as much that you know will be consistent.
It could just be that the next time the CEO rolls out a press release or speaks to investors he will let them know that the person in charge of QA is gone . . . so the missing city thing won't happen again. Sometimes people get fired or quit on their own to take some heat off the company. . but the fact that SV is not acknowledging it makes it seem a little more likely that he left.
I can't imagine being that guy. . your resume says you did QA on MO. . at least now he can claim that he left because he didn't have enough support etc.

All speculation though.
Well by the sounds of things it is probably a good career move.
Someone linked a post to an Epic Developers forum where there was a post for Starvault looking to hire a world designer. The best part is that it was posted by the "Patcher Guy" who doesn't even work for StarVault. The second best part is that it says "No commercial experience required". You would think that, by now... they would have learned their lesson.

Guess what happen to APB is gunna happen to MO now. It has failed for too long to possibly survive anymore. At least AoC kept some subs. MO got nothing, at most I see only like 100 ppl talking about how they love/want this game to succeed.
I wanted to play this yes, but seems too late. They have done too little to save this.
I do not know, FF fun club still holds the leads for most propable in this area.
When you guys make threads / posts about a crazy thread happening on the MO forums... make sure you take a screen shot and stop posting all that copy/paste junk of their entire forum. Upload the image to imageshack or imgur to keep a backup so it doesnt look like your editing the text...
Christian was their entire Quality Assurance team (only recently they got a few interns) and largely responsible for the few quality things they implemented with their patches that weren't completely broken.
Not exactly true
Quality assurance ( * employees):
Christian Hedberg*, Daniel Backstrom*, Kennie Nilsson, Pontus Almen
Not exactly true unless you count unpaid interns..
I count 15 plus the CEO/OWNER on that list you provided (because you have guys listed in white/gold that have left since that post was made)... and that of course is assuming that others haven''t left.
Normally developers do cut staff after release, but that is because the game is complete and they put it into a low production/maintenance mode. For SV to lose 20% of their staff so closely following their release.. when even the biggest supporters state that there is a LOT of work left to do... well... I don't think that's a good sign.
Q3 financials come out on the 4th.. should make an interesting read, although not as interesting as the Q4/ 2010yearly report will be.

That's from 3 months ago, so I guess it hinges on what you mean by "recently"
Christian was the one working in-game, Daniel was working the support tickets. So, while Daniel could be QA on paper he's certainly not working in the capacity as one.

Maybe thats why a QA person left, pretty big oversight.
