    got bored fast.

Pretty much this. The graphics are on par for the art style so that isn't my gripe. The character designs are bland and don't invoke a "That looks cool! I want to play that" from me. The camera and lack of zoom out annoys me to no end, just like it does in LoL.The lack of progression means I don't find much of a draw to continue playing.

I also don't see this being a super competitive game. It will end up like WoW Arena, your group composition will play a bigger role than actual skill.

There is a big difference between FPS/twitch PvP and RPG PvP. To me this game sounds much more like an FPS PvP game.

RPGs, historically, allows you to build the skills of your character and aquire gear and as such you will have crits, evades and other dice rolls.

So to summarise: RPG PvP =/= FPS PvP so you cant say that one is "real PvP" as they are completely different.

I like MMOs but let's be honest here...The big difference is that RPG PvP takes (almost) no skill and is all about time invested in the game and FPS PvP actually does take skill.  You are completely deluding yourself if you think otherwise.  Fighting games also take skill, so FPS are certainly not unique in this regard.  It is just too bad that MMOs take virtually no skill.  Calling it "twitch" is just an attempt (IMO) to deride the skill.

Note:  I am 40+ and my skills are waning.  I still love fighting games though.

BLC is an absolutely amazing highly competitive pvp only game, period.

basically like wow arena with less skills, no gear, no targetting system, lot more skill required to be good/half-decent.  The heroes are very balanced now and go through quite a lot of patch notes to balance lately, now with a new EX system similiar to Street Fighter 4, for those that know about it.  This game is literally NOTHING like League of Legends other than the pricing model that was just released 2 days ago, so in that respect, maybe, but gameplay wise, not even close.

I run regular inhouses for mid/high level players and I promise you it will make you think twice about how good you think you are at the game, play with regular veterans daily.

BLGaming.com for all your BLC competitive needs and BLGTV.net every saturday(US) and sunday(EU) for weekly tournaments.  I do regular shoutcasting for the tournament on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays as well.  Hope to see more people get interested in this great pvp oriented game.

This game looks like crap to me. I received a beta invite and I'm not interested in it at all. If someone wants my beta invite code send me a PM and you can have it. First come first serve.

It depends on what kind of skills you are talking about. If it is twitch-gaming skills then yes, MMOS usually does not need  those kind of skills. However if you are talking about tactical group skills, how to build your character, when to use what power, what gear is good for what situation.

Then for sure MMORPGs takes skill, but it depends alot on the MMORPG in question and what options it gives you as a player.

Saying that FPS PvP takes skill and RPG does not is like saying ping pong takes skill but chess does not. You cant compare the two as they are entirely different.

Good to see that MMORPG.com are continuing to be more diverse in their reviews. Anything with online gameplay is up for grabs, but most like this game should not get on the MMORPG.com game play list.

I do like a bit of arena play, for a proper MMO though it can be very distracting to the main thrust of the MMO e,g as in Warhammer scenarios.

    Just my 2 cents ^^

It will be subscription and F2P, kind of like what turbine is doing.

They say so on their forums

This games gameplay is nothing like LoL or HoN.

This games gameplay require you to aim your skills, you can't click on a player to cast your skills you have to aim them.

This game requires more skills than HoN or any other dota games require.

And this game isn't really DOTA it's a PvP Arena game, there is no creeps or a base to defend it's just PvP.

It's a really fun game i recommend everyone to try it out, only issue i have with this game is my comp can't handle it i lag sometimes.

The graphics are really good btw.

I agree with you, sort of, but the whole ping pong vs chess analogy is way off. Chess is a skill based game, whilst it is tactical in nature it is still player vs player with the game mechanics favouring neither side. RPG games (whilst they require some forethought/panning) do not give a level playing field (thats the point in progression games) and as such are nothing like chess.

I love this game for what it is.

It's a really good little blast when you're short on time but it is pretty limited. The graphics are quite poor though, and it has very little depth in terms of either game world, player interaction or character advancement. The overall setting is quirky and original but the lack of lore to support it is a shame.

It strikes a pretty good balance between tactical and twitch game play, and doesn't require copious amounts of skill in either department to be enjoyable. That said I really think it'll need to employ a pretty creative F2P model or cost about a tenner to garner any interest at release. Given that you can pick-up - off the top of my head - Torchlight (no PvP but way deeper) or Global Agenda (way more advanced) for a good price, I can't see where this will fit into the marketplace.

All the weaknesses this game has can be forgiven if:

    • It's pitched in the right way (payment model)

    • It's developed enthusiastically by Funcom

Played the CB version, it is a keyboard-turner, which I despise (you use the mouse to aim & shoot).  It is fast-paced, graphics are pretty basic, there is no gear/ranks/levels so everyone is on the same footing.  Good for a little while, but nothing i would pay a subscription for.

  • MouthMouth Member Posts: 113

I am also in the CB of this game and love it for what it is: quick-fix arena combat. I also love their art styles and types of characters.. everything has a.. uhm.. african feel to it. This is a high quality small game (300 mb) very much worth checking out IMO. I also liked it a lot more than DoTA and LoL

It looks kind of interesting, but I've never liked pvp in any format for any game.    In PvE, my win/loss ratio is around 99%.    If I could get that kind of ratio in pvp, I'd play.

Anyway, if anyone is into pvp and wants to try this, pm me and I'll send you my code.

I tried the beta and find games like savage 2 more fun.

ceased to be agreeable to all its constituent States, but when it was upheld, like any other Empire, by force of arms."

  • nate1980nate1980 Member UncommonPosts: 2,074

Sounds interesting, but I'd like to know if there's any character building in the game. For instance, if I prefer a particular class, can I play him only and advance through levels, and buy new weapons and armor for him as I advance?

  • DraanimrevDraanimrev Member Posts: 13
Is it just 3v3 arena or does it have other game types like CTF?
  • DeathengerDeathenger Member UncommonPosts: 880

Great game! I been paying for a couple weeks now and I'm hooked. Its the most flawless beta I have ever been in. There was some server instability and patching issues early on that seem to have been ironed out now. Remember its still beta.

    Love it!

  • causscauss Member UncommonPosts: 666

I love it. Great PVP game. It's not trying to be something huge and fancy, and that's why I love it.

  • TilranTilran Member Posts: 42

The game offers everything from 1v1 to 5v5 in 3 different setups.

Deathmatch - Last team standing, no respawn

CTF - Self explanatory, unlimited respawns

Conquest - Hold 3 key points for 60 seconds to win, unlimited respawns with respawn timer that increases every death.

  • TilranTilran Member Posts: 42

And on a side note, I love this game.  It isent something you can dedicate a bunch of hours to per week like a normal MMO, it is an arena game.  I typically do 2 hour sessions when I play because I find the game extreamly fun.  When I started I was playing alot more because I was still learning.

It is very easy to make a statement like "This class is OP or unbalanced" when you play the game a short time, as there are EASIER classes to play for sure, and there are also people who have mastered a particular class who will hand you your ass quickly....but the game is balanced in my opinion.

    Easier to play stronger classes:

    Glutton

    Harbringer

    Ignitor

Funcom is not the developer of this game. They are just the publisher.
