"As stated the F2P is a mistake. This series is a run up to a full review of the game by myself. I am trying to stay away from talking about bugs for the survivor series as general rule of thumb until I meet one that truly breaks my expierence. We all know that MO is almost in closed-beta status so trust me in the review I will mention the bugs etc. and this series is a detail of my in-game exploits rather than critique."

 

Doesn't sound like the best marketing approach to me. Also, this is an established series on the site that is usually filled with some decent humor. I understand you might disagree with the focus, but this doesn't really line up with "Viral Marketing" (At least not to some extend that SV would be involved if that is the overall implication).

Any acticle on MO that doesn't even MENTION it's massive issues is very suspect... and that quote you give is NOT from the article but rather a response to my calling the author on it.   If that was actually IN the article it would be fair.

The quote is from the thread you linked and not hidden in some other thread talking about a thread talking about an article, so I am not sure what the gripe is. You made a statement that this was viral marketing and I merely quoted a response from the author that I felt was relevant to the topic. Such is the nature of disagreeing on something I suppose.

All that said, the author responded to you in a civil manner and explained his reasoning behind the articles contents. He went further to explain that a more critical review would be forthcoming. If you don't like it, by all means, keep complaining about the series. The EvE series had its detractors as I am sure the F2P series did as well (though I only skimmed the F2P series). It is still, in my opinion, a far cry from "viral marketing" and it is, dare I say, disengenuous to label it as such.

I'm curious, what exactly is it you think would be in it for us, or for Mr. Tingle to doing whatever it is you're accusing us of?

Also, I'll remind you that spamming our forums is against our ToS. you made your point in the previous thread. Why create a whole new accusation thread?

PS: This thread was created in the MO forum for discussion by the community that frequents this forum but may not have seen the original article.  This is not unique and there are often threads created in the game forums that discuss News Articles.  I understand your objection to the accusation of viral marketing and perhaps the tone of the thread is the problem and from your response I believe my viral marketing claim may have been off mark (changed the title) but I honestly don't think the creation of a thread in an individual gaming forum to discuss a news article is out of the ordinary in any way.  It is your site however so I shall refrain from further "spam" by creating threads in gaming forums to discuss news items. It's all good. 

As for the "why"... well the company recently sentout a newsletter to their investors stating that they would be focusing on viral marketing in the coming months.  When a news article like this starts off with a basic fact wrong like titling it as F2P... I hope you can understand the possibility that someone might put 2 + 2 together.. further influenced by the fact that the article seemed to exclude any and all of the glaring issues with the game.  Now it has since been corrected that the F2P was a typo and the author clarified exactly what his article was meant to do.   Not everyone is (at least I wasn't) familiar with his survivor series... and it was described as "Adam's thoughts about Mortal Online".   Your disclaimer at the top has now clarified things a bunch.. so thanks again for that.

Slapshot have spend every day here on this forum bashing MO in a crusade (he have done so for a year now). And he don't even play MO ... so it's good to see the mods act otherwise this forum easily turns into a troll forum.

MO have bugs (last patch yesterday was great fixing several bugs thou) but still many people have fun playing MO. I think that says much about what MO is about to become.

 I respect him for coming in here and telling the truth about a game contrary to what alot of dilusional fanboys post trying to somehow up the population of a totally horrible game. I happened to log into the game yesterday and the day before after 5 minutes in game the server crashed then I ran around Fabernum and saw 4 people COUNT THAT WITH ME ...4. Then the server crashed again and was down for some time I stoped trying to get back in after about 5 minutes.

The only reason my account was active at all was because a few friends were playing the game so they activated my account to get some resources the guild had worked on, it is now cancelled.

Tell me what bugs were fixed yesterday ???? The patch notes read many dupes were fixed ....What were those dupes ?

They then proceed to state the horse dupe was not fixed yet ....WHY ? because the Horse dupe is Obvious and other players can see it happening so they could not simply lie about that. other dupes like Items and gold are not VISIBLE so they can claim they fixed them all they want when in truth they are full of crap.

Fanboys are much more detrimental to the MMO community than people who tell the truth about a broken game I happen to know for a fact alot of what slapshot posts is the truth.
