The monthly fee is to pay for the servers, adn to keep the game up to date and provide the services they do now.

Well i understand it, but still, people(like me), dont have a major credit card like visa or mastercard;
And the game cards: ive just emailed a store if they are gonna get them; i hope so..... Cause they dont have game cards for EQ2

I mean that in both sense, your obv new to mmorpgs seen as you dont think monthly fees should be used... you think that the GMs, servers, development time is paid for by magical fairies or something.

You want a free mmorpg... go play runescape.

I concur. Devs are continually updating the game with more quests and goodies to keep you from getting bored from the game. Technically, if you enjoy World of warcraft enough, you won't buy any other single player game and just pay the $15/month for wow rather than the £50 every so month for that other game.

First of all, how did anyone make sense of this gibberish?  Second, of course there is going to be a monthly fee!

Obviously a newbie to MMORPG's. THis is NOT a RTS game. MMORPG's allow you to play with thousands of players concurrently. In such, the game is alwyas live, and always changing and being updated. As such, there needs to be a monthly fee to pay for servers, dev costs etc.. This game isnt played with player run servers like warcraft.

monthly fees are their way of secretly excluding everyone too young to have a credit card. this thread's an example of how it works, most of the time.

You never played a mmorpg in your life have you?

Where do you think the money comes from to keep 30+ servers up and running, how would the GMs get paid, what about the people working at Blizzard they need to get paid, server maintenance...

Like come on Im so sick of people whining how mmorpg should be free...Buying the game for 50$+ wont pay for everything... If you dont like it dont play it

Edit: Giving out your CC information to a company wont hurt you, they cant give out any of your personal information so you have nothing to worry about

simple if you wany to play a mmo game with out a monthly fee .

1) there are free shards for games (lineage 2 being one i know is legal. secarch for l2j on http://sourceforge.net)

2) if you are not a hands on person, play Guild Wars when it comes out.

They have to pay for servers and employees. Play Guild Wars if you dont want to pay for a online game.
