Starting resources for new players

I bought MO and played at launch for about 6 days. I am thinking about coming back to check out what's happening. If I do, I will start over completely.

Aside from what's on the offical website, can anyone link any good starting information? I am thinking about something like Valroth's Darkfall videos. I know there were some starter vids up during the beta for MO. I want to know if there is anything more up to date.

Also, it doesn't have to be video.

Does any current player have any advice for what to realistically expect when coming back to MO?

Any new MO players want to share their experience? What is the state of the game from your perspective (population, community, griefing, etc.).

Advice about race selection, class, skill points, etc. would be helpful, too.
