Not sure if all know already around here but it turns out that if you use a weapon that is way above your rank, but you seem to have aside of the lower attribute bonus a penality on the amount of skillpoints you gain out of a combat. Not to mention that they tend to break way easier.

Hence why it states Optimal Rank ,
Could do with being clearer for people to know but I kinda figured this out

Same here but it sort of can create some needless troubles if these sideffects are not noticed, so I thought it could not hurt to mention here.
An other interresting fact about higher rank items is that you only see the lack of bonus when you directly check your status and how much it changed by the higher rank item. If you buy the item you normally see the full Bonus and it not shows the penalities directly. A good thing to know if you wonder why alla round you complain that higher Rank items are worser even as you see clearly improvements numbers compared to your old items.
Something that did happen to me I must admit. Well at least I have enough things for higher levels now.
One thing they do need to make clear though, optimal rank is physical or 'job' Level?

It means the joblevel. I know it can be confuseing special if there are listed several classes or they say for all classes.
Darn, i brought level 16 gear at level 9... grr Least I can grow into it

Depending on the piece of gear you are fine with about +/- 5 levels of the gear.
I think you are better off with the gear being below your level skill gain wise. Some of he people that made it to 50 first did so with vendor and leve items.
It also appears there is a given amount of leeway. If you are lvl 20 and have on all high teen gear and put on a lvl 27 piece, you will get more benefit than if you put on 2 lvl 27 pieces. At least that is the way it appears to me.
And really..the whole skill point thing in general is like crafting, are you facing the right direction with the right moon phase? Why does it have to be so complicated? If you kill a mob you should get SP for it, period.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
I think the reasons for it is to make botting on an other level harder. Special the aspect that reapirs for betetr items are quite expensive if you have nobody around to repair it. I sort of think I know how the SP gain works in soem cases but it is really complicated. But a sure sideffect is that on some of tehse leveling your charakter for money pages it costs already 768 Dollars to get your charakter from 1 - 30 and that they can do effective leveling from their workers only on 4 hours a day.
Not to mention that there are no offer from 1- 50 at all. :P
Edit:
Since my last argument is a bit to offtopic from my own thread I started a seperate one for that topic. It can be found here.
