We know that many of our community members have been hoping to get their hands on a Beta Invite Key for Rift: Planes of Telara™. In order to show our appreciation for your continued support and enthusiasm, we've added a Beta Invite Key to your Trion Worlds account! These keys are the same as the keys which have been handed out at conventions and were included with the Telara Chronicles comic books. This key doesn't guarantee that you will be invited to the beta, but it does greatly increase your chance, so stay tuned for future updates. You will be notified at the e-mail address associated with your account if you are selected for any beta events. There's nothing else you need to do!

Yah I have that too. However I do not think beta for this group has actually started. Mine says the same thing except the date is 10/06. Unless Im mistaken of course.. I imagine it would be a bit more intuitive the beta process for participating and downloading.

Community Beta means that you will have access to one or more weekend beta events.
VIP Access gives you access to all of them
Also, the game is undergoing what Trion calls Alpha testing.. which to me seems like more of a traditional Beta.

It is not a beta invite. It means that you are in a community pool and could be chosen for beta testing,
No it means he is guaranteed to be invited to at least one of the weekend events which is beta. Everyone who registered on the forums before a certain date got one of these invites.
VIP beta is a guaranteed invite to all beta weekends.
Edit: NVM it appears im wrong atleast according to the Beta FAQ on the forums.
They have been doing a LOT of contest to get the VIP beta keys, I got on from a pumpkin carving contest, every one that carved a pumpkin got a VIP key (the VIP key gets you in to all bata events). Keep an eye on there site and there Facebook and Twitter for more contest (if they have more).
The communtiy beta code added to Trion accounts does not in any way mean you are in beta for sure. It simply gives you a chance to be picked and the earlier you made your account the greater chance you have to get picked.
Note that it is not really a beta at all. What is called beta are select weekend events. If you get a beta pass, you get to attend ONE weekend. If you get a VIP beta, you can access all WEEKENDS.
The true "beta" is the alpha, which is going on simultaneously. You can't get into that one unless you're friends and family or have +50 internets on foh.

It gives you a better chance at being selected for one of the weekend events that should be starting *soon*. Once you get selected for an event, your name goes back into the pool and you wait for another chance to be selected. So basically it's like getting 2 lottery tickets instead of just 1 - you have a slightly better chance at winning the jackpot...
