WOW Trilogy Pack

Hello everyone.  I plan on returning to WOW once Cataclysm is released.  I'm bringing a new friend with me that has never played WOW.  Looking into getting him started it looks like it will cost around $120 or more.  This seems pretty expensive.  He'll have to purchase the base game, and then all 3 xpacs.

My question is this:

Is there a product out there he can buy that is an "all in one" deal?  Has Blizzard released a "trilogy" pack?  I figured he would be able to buy some type of special pack that gives him all 3 xpacs plus the Cataclysm expansion for around $80-$90.  Is there such a thing?

Thanks.

    Thanks.

Blizzard sells "Battle Chests" for every title they make.  The WoW Battle Chest has been updated to include Vanilla, BC, and WotLK.  I don't see this version of the chest online yet, but I saw it at Best Buy the other day.  This way you just need the battle chest and cata.  If you can't find this version of the chest there is one with Van + BC for sure.  It costs between $30-$40.  So you'd wind up spending roughly $100 this way.  Not too much of a savings, but something.

Right now the only battle chest is the original game plus TBC expansion. That costs about $40. WotLK is another $40. And if he wants Cataclysm it's another $40. So it would be $120 alltogether.  Now the argument from people is that you don't have to buy all of the expansions. While that is true, it really will short change your experience. Perhaps in the near future they will have a battle chest for vanilla wow and two expansions (Cataclysm won't be in that for a good long while). It is quite a heafty price, I agree.

Actually, go to the site and look through the digital options available. I believe you can buy all 4 including Cataclysm as a bundle for $100? Not entirely sure, but it's worth checking out. Check under a trial account.

This is what happens when you're at 12M subs and rising: you don't need to (practically) give the game client. Even when it's old, you can still cash on the boxes.

I've got the same problem with a girlfriend, OP. I hear you. I wish Blizzard would at least make a $40 WoW Chest (with Van-BC-LK), because frankly, those extensions don't have much value today (inasmuch as they deliver dated content which most players will just level/rush through now). Hell, Blizz could even give'em away as free downloads. I'm sure 12M subs would quickly compensate. The point is that the full game, as of any day, really, should never cost more than $80, total. That's already a lot for a so-called casual game—not so casual on the wallet if you're about to start WoW, isn't it?

I really thought Blizzard would sell a big Cata box with every previous expansion included at a $80-$100 price point. Where's PR, guys? Wouldn't such a box sell like hotcakes?

If they're replacing the old world with Cata, surely vanilla should come free with Cata...

    Anyway, I recently opened a second account - Battle Chest £12.99, Lich King £12.99. Cataclysm pre-order £22.99, so that's around $80.

The other alternative - don't buy the expansions!  If you want play a Blood Elf or Dranei you'll obviously need TBC, and if you want to play a Goblin or Worgen you'll need Cata, but otherwise leave them until you need them.  The post-cata world is open to all.

I just saw this advertised over at wow.joystiq.com.

As part of its Prelude to Black Friday Deals Week, Amazon.com is offering The Burning Crusade for free to people who purchase World of Warcraft through the website. Right now, The Burning Crusade is retailing for $29.82 at Amazon, so if you're looking to get that for free, pick up a $19.75 copy of WoW. That's a pretty damn good deal, especially for people getting into the new Cataclysm leveling experience that will be free for all vanilla WoW players.

It's a long link, hopefully this works.

That makes a lot of sense and it would be on par with what everyone else does.

But I cannot find anywhere any confirmation of this new Battlechest with Wotlk inside. I really hope they release it, prolly same time they release Cataclysm.
