Guilds will probably have ratings for GvG matches, which determines your place in ranking and potentially world tournament entries.
No idea if there will be other rankings besides this one. In GW1 they had these PvE missions you would compete for daily, weekly and all-time highs, something like that.
I don't think there has been any confirmation on rankings, but could be wrong. I would imagine there being rankings for GvG battles. I highly doubt individual rankings, as that goes against Anet philosophy of team oriented competition. 1v1 was meaningless in GW1, I'm going to assume the same philosophy was carried over to GW2.

If it's anything like the original Guild Wars, the only ranking will be for GvG battles, which is the game's most organized and intensive form of PvP. They have a GvG ladder for each "season" and certain rewards for top finishes... for instance, if your guild places 1st your cape embroidery becomes gold.

Guilds will be ranked. Servers will be ranked. And minigames could have Highscore list too...
