30 mins before the event and I see 5 people in that live feed? Or is it 90 mins to go? Whichever, rest assured I will be here to report the numbers that I see attending said event.

  • username509username509 Member CommonPosts: 635

At the time I'm posting this there's 35 people on the live feed.  Where are you getting your numbers from?

Those of us genuinely interested in the event would like to know more than just numbers (which is just fodder for continued forum warfare / spindoctoring).

Most importantly, did the participants have fun?  The spectators?  Did any trouble break out, or was it fairly well controlled?

What worked well about the event?  What needs to be improved for future events?

Are they still planning the second round for the 27th of November in the Tindrem arena?

    Thanks!

Yeah I would love to see it in the arena.

Sorry we could not say anything before about the arena. It was mentioned but we did not want to get any one's hopes up only to be let down. It had not been confirmed until Henrik announced it. Thank you SV for the awesome info! And just for a teaser.. SV is working on a few more "items" to make the NGF even better so please keep your eyes open for it!

Sadly, the arena cannot host the amount of fights we need to do for eliminations. However, after the Eliminations are held on the 13th of Nov at 11pm +0GMT, we will have the ranking fights on the 27th IN THE ARENA! This is confirmed! Plus, this will give us the time needed to iron out a few more bumps. We wish for this to be fun for everyone, not just the fighters!

We are looking for a Commentator and someone who is good with Live Streams. It would be nice if they were the same person. If you are interested, please contact an NGF Chairman.

The NGF is looking to increase it's staff. The NGF is an Equal Opportunity Employer (Except we don't pay shit!). The NGF is not restricted to any guild or alliance so anyone interested in helping out and has the time and initiative is welcomed. Again, please contact an NGF Chairman if interested.

We would like to thank everyone for their participation in the Elimination rounds. It started out a little rough and chaotic but we got many fights done. We learned a lot and even though the pace was not as good as we had wished, there were some pretty fantastic matches.

The NGF would like to personally thank Discord for assisting us with this event.

The outcome is that 20 fighters will be ranked and up to 6 will be undercards. We were sad to see people that fail to show up and not let a guildmate or us know there were not going to make it. All those players will not be participate in future NGF events unless they have a pretty good reason. This even is for the entertainment of the MO players and no-shows like that take away from fun.

We will post more information later this week in preparation for the 27th in the arena! We expect we will even have a better turn out! Again, more information to come. Please monitor our website for updates.

Unfortunately we did have a few people attacked on the way to the event. We had expected it and no matter how hard you try to include everyone, there will be some that find more enjoyment in attempting to disrupt the even instead to participating. Such is the harsh world of Nave.

The good news: No one was killed within the event aside from the ones we had thought attempted to interrupt it. For that reason, at this time no GUILD will be banned from the event. We chose to leave the event open for all to listen, watch and read yet a couple took advantage of that and used the information to gank. Those few names that will be KOS'd if they come near our events in the future.

Before the next event we will lay down rules and expectations that are much more clear. We cannot expect everyone to know the names of all participants and give them pass all over Nave. As I am not overly sure those who attack our fighters in transit had no malice toward the event, it would not be fair to ban them at this time. However, their names have been noted and any future issues will will result in a permanent ban.

Again, thank you all and see you on the 27th!

One would think the number of participants would be relevent in a "Big Tournamant" of a Mmorpg.  What does one consider an event in MO? 50ish people getting together in a game claiming the capability to support 27000??? Is MO trying to redefine the genre?

You're aware it was planned to be a 40 man, double-elimination event, organized and run by players, right?

To my eye there was a fairly consitent 50-75 people scattered around the area, principally in 3 clusters. People were logging and joining, but numbers remained stable the 2 hours I was there. I don't think I saw any more than 2 representatives from any one guild: I know for a fact none of my guild were there apart from me and, going by our alliance chat, none of our alliance were present either. Lot's of faces I didn't know existed were there and a few familiar ones too. The turnout was good, but what was suprising was that a good percentage of known entities weren't particularly represented, which gives hope for subscription numbers.

There was some trouble with some guy attacking anything that came over the mountain from the central steppe and a rogue AQ member was attacking folks coming through the tunnel. On the whole is was quite a civil gathering - Kubalay, Queen of Nave, even made an appearance.

I agree with what you said except for the above.  If "known" entities are not present. . maybe it was your wording to me that suggests that they, at best, didn't come or at worst, that they are not playing anymore.   There is often a certain hype level that gets new people to try a game.  If they don't stick around that is a problem.  If it is the same number of players next event like this and it is all new faces. . I consider that a bad thing.  Having the event in the arena should bring out a lot of people though.

Well, it wasn't entirely new faces for me, maybe a 50/50 split. My point was that out of the faces known to me, they probably accounted for a few % of the people I know play the game to this day. I was messaging people asking what they were up to and if they were going to turn up at some point and most of my contacts were in game, but doing other things.

I'm not suggesting the 50% unknowns were new players either - just that the event was a good indicator for me that there are a good number of established players and guilds who aren't particularly vocal or present in my networks. How many completely new players were there? That's hard to say. Poorly-equiped players could probably have been counted on one hand, but they could well have been alts.

I run with what is regarded as a small, insignificant guild and we number 6 or 7 online during our playing hours. There were 5 of us during the tournament and I was the only one present at the tourney. It seems to me there were similar percentages there from my own knowledge of other guilds, plus the same again from unknown entities. Of course, without knowledge of who these other entities represent, I can't make a reliable estimate at population online, but even discounting them and sticking with what I know, estimates of 150 max cocurrent players are laughable - it is far higher.

I think that's my point - I believed that 150 figure until the event last night, but seeing such a gathering allowed me to make estimates that were surprisingly optimistic.

Ah okay I see what you are saying.  For sure there are a lot of people playing that do not spend time in the forums etc.  I am sure there are guilds who do not even read them or post on them. . or visit IRC etc.  Less so with MO than most games but still likely.
