I'm looking for a game that probably doesn't exist. I currently play Wurm online but am getting fed up with the bugs and the direction the dev is taking the game. I came to wurm from playing Achaea (a MUD).
This is what I am looking for:
- Tends to cater towards a more 'mature' crowd
- Complex combat system (not just keybind, spam key) prefereably something that takes real skill (learning the moves and how to counter effectively). Combat doesn't need to be fast paced at all, I like the challenge of actually learning things.
- Very tight community, where I have a chance of making a name for myself.
- Player run everything (with wurm you could even change the environment). Achaea had player controlled economy, politics, guilds... everything was player driven.
- Persistant world... I hate instances. If I do something, I want to see the effect (obviosuly repawns are necessary, but you get my meaning).
I don't mind some grinding (Wurm is nothing but a grind ) as long as I'll get something out of it.

Mortal Online or DarkFall comes to mind, although they each have their sets of issues. Not quite sure about the "mature" part though.
Perhaps EVE? Combat is a bit complex but not as player-skill based as MO or DF, but it's definitively the best player-driven sandbox on the market. I think this one fits most of your requirements and the game is doing really great compared to the two I mentionned above.
I'm going to second Eve for now.
You are going to be out of luck for the foreseeable future, especially when comparing your experience to Achea. That game is essentially player-driven in every single aspect, it's incredibly unique and you just aren't going to find anything like that in a traditional mmorpg.
I've erased and re-written this post several times, there's just so much to say and it's all too much. The best thing for you to do is to stick with Achea or read up on some of the mmorpgs that are coming out in the near future. I can honestly say that you're not likely to be satisfied with anything that's currently out there given where you come from, what you're looking for and what you're comparing it all against (Achea).
EDIT: Look into Guild Wars 2. If you are interested in playing a ORPG then I would suggest giving Guild Wars a try.
(1)TL:DR must be your way of saying that thinking hurts. Then again, this may explain why it looks like you responded to the post without using your brain.
(2) It's not about community, is it? You just have nothing better to do.
is there any mature game like SIMS? or you meant great battle and nice community? well if you are looking for that go to the first page of MMORPG and look for the top 10 released game and youll see, eve, atlantic aonline and others those are mature games
You pretty much just described Xsyon, its basically a combination of wurm n haven and hearth. It won't release for awhile, but its definetly worth looking into.
Yes I have a dream And its not some MLK dream for equality. I wanna own a decommissioned lighthouse And I wanna live at the top And nobody knows I live there. And theres a button that I can press, and launch that lighthouse into space.
On paper it looks amazing. Unfortunately it's little more than vaporware. It is so unfinished, and the dates have been postponed so many times... Imagine, by the date they first announced they would release, beta-testers were complaining about NPCs not beeing implemented yet.
On a side note... Are you realizing how frequent the "I can't find a good game to play" posts are getting lately?
It's been impossible to find a new interesting, unique game for a long time. I find it odd since the thigns that I am looking for seem to be things that are very commonly sought after... hey dev's, get a clue!
I played eve for a while, but hated the fact that playing was jsut to get money. Offline skillgain is lame and you are essentially paying to get your skills, as opposed to working for them.
I am definatly looking forward to xsycon, but right now it's so unfinished I don't want to look into it much more.
What about Darkfall?
That game is so fun! What you do while you play the game effects others and you do not know what to expect when you log in because of the amount of player freedom that others have which can interfere with your plans. Offline skill progression patch is coming very soon and yes you need to play the game for a long time to create a developed character but I think that it is funner than controlling a space-ship most of the time.
It is definitely a mature game. The average age of the DFO gamer is 27. I think that I have only played with 10 people in their teens, 3 under 18, since I started playing almost 2 years ago. Most are around my age it seems. A lot of couples play together as well.

Try EvE
Try Darkfall
Try Mortal Online
......and usually in that order too lol
