Something... Other than WoW?

SkillzerooSkillzeroo Member Posts: 96

I'm getting desperate :P - MMORPGs I really, really like but it just feels terrible to come back to them.

I've been playing Global Agenda recently and want to try world of tanks (got into beta but the FTP thing turns me off). These games, however, aren't strong enough alone to kill my MMO cravings :P

Played WoW for years, played just about every other MMO

I couldnt get into Darkfall because it performed like absolute crap on my machine (5870 and i7 @ 4.42ghz for christs sake) and the animations were unbearably stiff and dull

Mortal Online is.. Not happening.

WoW had PvP I liked but I hated how every terrible player was able to get decent gear, I also hated how terrible groups of players would get together and talk down to other people (See: Most PvE Guilds). I was a HUGE PvPer but the game has just gotten easier in a bad way.. I hate to say it but I used to hand level and sell accounts for some spare cash, the value of accounts has gone down by LOADS because it is significantly easier to get what makes accounts valuable (gold, gear, mounts, etc). Did you know that you can buy an 80 for less than the cost of CD Keys now? Its pathetic! ... Don't make this seem like I plan to sell accounts again, I was just using it as an example of proof about how the game got easier.

EVE I can see myself getting into but the combat system is incredibly dull, I've tried it twice but am seriously reconsidering doing the trial over just to see a hang of the game again... I'll admit I didnt know everything and sort of rushed into it, maybe I'll like it.

AOC runs like crap, PvP is pretty much pointless, Just don't like the games current direction (Played it for a year)

WAR is in the same situation as AOC for me (Minus the runs like crap) ... It also feels like a huge sinking ship.

COH/COV I didn't like.

LoTRO was alright but I'm a pvp player, exploration player, etc.. LOTRO seemed to have loads of great PvE but thats it.

Fallen Earth was fun, but the layoffs and game direction kind of make me cringe. Animations were stiff and it had some bugs, PvP was pretty bad.

AION was too grindy, thats really my only complaint. Played both betas, never bought it.

Soooooo --- With all of that listed (Keeping in mind I've played other MMOs as well, just forgot to list them) what can you suggest to me? Jumpgate Evo and Guild Wars 2 REALLY interests me but they're long ways away, SW:TOR I have no interest in at all from the videos I've seen, pretty sad because I was looking forward to it.

Also keep in mind I am completely open to trying games I've played before... If I have a good reason to. Right now the #1 canidate seems like EVE... Its new (well, newer / more original than fantasy orcs and elves) and I like the art / style / theme of it... The combat though.. ugh!

If you're into PvP then try Allods since they're a pvp based game. I never played Aion so I don't know how grindy it is and even though some people say Allods can be grindy, it's nowhere close to a lot of other popular f2p MMOs out there.  Allods is also nicknamed the f2p WoW, so if you liked WoW then you might like Allods

only play F2P PvP games if you don't mind dropping a few $100 or getting owned by people who do.  other then that i wish i could help you.

Decided to man up and re-do the trial for EVE.. Maybe try something new and mine or something, either way I'll force myself to play AT LEAST the full 30 days I'll reactivate for. Heres to hoping I'll like it! I'm going in with an open mind and I'm not looking for a "replacement" after quitting X game.. Haven't played an MMO in months (If you dont count global agenda, which isnt much of an MMO)

Tried Guildwars? It is a CORPG but pretty fun... DDO is also worth a try if you havn't played it.

Aion has become considerably less grindy if thats the only thing that turned you off.

    Xp is easy

    Cash is easy

    Items are easy

Only complaint I have which is why i don't play it anymore is gear > skill at end game and I don't have the playtime to spend a few month gear gathering just to compete.

Short of that the MMORPG scene is absolutely terrible at the moment there is just nothing out there worth playing let alone paying to play and sadly any titles of interest are still some way off.

I have been occupying my time with Battlefield Bad Company 2,  Football Manager and the excellent value for money Dragon Age: Ultimate edition £25 on Steam for the core game, awakenings and all 9 DLC's thats 1000s of hours of gameplay for that price.

Maybe you should try pure pvp mmo's, like global agenda or such? Loco, league of legends or heroes of newerth? Atleast they would ease your pvp-thirst. :)

...oh just noticed you have tried global agenda, oh well. Anyways good luck! :P

This is probably way off mark and although you said you like exploration and such what i'm about to suggest contains none really.

Have you thought about putting MMO's to a side for a bit till something comes out that really catches your eye, to ease your PvP thirst till then you could do what i have done and play FPS online games such as CoD:Black Ops, CoD4 and BF:BC2. now i know these aint MMOs but like i said, they're keeping me occupied till something comes out that catches my eye without putting sub money into something i won't stick with.
