Why you play MMORPGs?

Well I believe that there is a reason why everyone plays MMORPGs. My main reason is that theres simply not much to do and my best friends live 20-40 minutes away. Sure I love to have band practice, guitar, and motocross. Another reason why I play MMORPGs is that I have no self esteem whatsoever so video games help(hah). Why do you guys play MMORPGs besides the fact that they are "addicting"?

Games Played:DoAC, EQ, CoH, Lineage 2, Planetside, Shadowbane, EQ2, EVE, WoW Beta
Playing:(Waiting to buy WoW)

    I play because in real life, money, family and time are more limited and I don't have time to Hunt, Fish and camp as I used to do a lot.  When I started, it was also a way to stay in touch with distant family, ie. my little bro's, who lived in FLA while I lived in Michigan.  I also have gotten into the crafting, but I spend a lot less making stuff in game than in RL. ;)  Finally I liked them better than static PC games because there is more and often changing content whereas, once you played a game like neverwinter nights, it's boring, because you've seen everything mostly.

    Just to maintain my sanity level just above the norm of this generation.

    Oh besides, smoking grind is pilgrimage compared to smoking rant and crack

    I play them to get out or take a break from my ordinary normal life. It'll just get my mind of some things, and most importantly, there fun to play. A great thing about them is the community, you can find alot of people around the world in just a couple minutes if you look. Sometimes when I'm not up for "grinding" or leveling, I'll just relax and treat the game as just a virtual chat room. Theres alot you can do with MMO games. -- Which game has the best community in your opinion?

    Besides the fact that its something to do, i love being able to pick of a staff and cast spells on unsespecting baddies

    plus...its "me" in that screen, its me bashing and casting my way to the treasure room, its me in there...looking sharp in those armor *says...who is that sexy man in that screen...oh! haha thats me!

    and supprisinly *recoils in mental pain* runescape helped me get a B instead of C on a romeo and juliet test in school, and it has also helped me in history class...but lets not speak of the evils of the world...

    i play for the magic and flashy lights...*gets lost in the flashy lights*

    I Feel MMORPG'S Help Me Escape From Reality, And My Normal Boring Life. I'd Rather A Medi-Eval Fantasy World To Live In, Instead Of What We Have Today Even IF It Would Be More Relaxing.

    My psychiatrist (sp?) told me to get more social, and I dunn do social.. so MMO's turned out to be the solution..

    Ain't gonna bother listing what I've played so far, just look att the Game List, just about everything there

    It all sucked.

    I got bored of RL when I was 16 n realized I had done everything legalillegal that was considered "fun". Also realized fun usually = stupid, so I quit being stupid n started playing MMORPGs^^

     

    WOW.. Site getting laggy all the sudden, think every single person with an acct on this site is hanging out for the big contest xP
