I thought id give the game a whirl again with this new race but i log on and create a char and there is no option to choose skaven? Was wondering if i am missing something really obvious?

I'm replying to my own thread ha but just wanted to share some info. In case people have got their wires crossed like I did then Mythic haven't actually released a new race to play as. All they have released is a method where when you complete a certain task then your character can become a skaven till he dies like a buff with a graphical overlay. Mis-leading is the word tbh, I thought they were going to release a new race from the ground up oh well. Thought I would share just in case.

It's still a fail on their part, I think the games gonna die soon tbh, are they not selling levels now?
they never stated they were releasing a new race or faction from the ground up. I am a bit mystiified about the lack of patch notes, alot of stuff changed and I have of yet only an overview not a detailed list.
Skaven - they are t4 only. My understanding they work similar to Lord of the ring online ranger and troll , you morph into them for a certain amount of time, soemone correct me if im wrong, but there limited first come first serve and are suppose to be much more powerful than a normle toon. I do NOT have a level 40 toon so I am playing from the perspective of my main which is 25 chosen on badlands. t3 is the highest I have seen.
Realm ability overhaul - .awesome job on the new realm abilites... they scrapped the stupid old system and put in place something similar to DAOC in vein with the realm abiliites... even saw a purge equivilent on the list.... Drawing inspiration from their first success +1 in my book.
New ORVR mechanic - . all i can say is, I really like the new ovr mechanic, they placed a ton more emphasis on holding MULTIPLE control points to spawn resource carriers to upgrade your keep. Protecting them is also important!! They can be ganked and taken if left undefended. It seems their intent was to split up the zerg , and they did that pretty well.. most of the warbands I was in were splitting up into 6 man gangs to cover certain areas of the map... it was refreshing seeing a warband with 24 people split into 4 small task forces working together in tandum instead of a mindless zerg and rez zombie revive.. It reminded me of battlefield conquest mode, divde and conqure is the way to win.
Improved siege - Another overhaul of a previous broken system... siege actully feels alot more fun than i remember it. Its now similar to dark age of camelot, but its a buff instead of a npc for placement... its free placement, no more pads, and it actully does quite a bit of damage. The weapons are also useful for anti personnal now, well except for the ram, but the ram and the rat ogre are the only ways to damage a door now. Also, you can actully "DEFEND" a castle now, because when you die anywhere in the ovr lake you automaticly spawn INSIDE the castle of your side... no more running from camp... also, Keep lords were removed, and replaced with a flag that takes 30 seconds to capture.
Aerial bombardment - Now this is just sweet. We got our keep up to level 4 and I went and hopped on this thing, and basicly what it does is its a limited number of griffons/manticores that spawn from your keep at level 4+. Players can hop on and it will fly at high altatude over the enemies keep. The player cant control it and the bombers move in a preset "bombing run" pattern but the player can rain down large number of napalm like stuff that sticks to the ground and does massive DOT damage for about 10 seconds to everything in the area... From my experience it is perfect for clearing out ramparts/towers on castle walls where large amount of defenders often hide... Oh, and you can dismount from it and leap onto the castle wall, before the gate is down, kinda like DAOC how they had climb walls , now you have catapult from sky onto wall.
Overall - I was really impressed with the new pack, compared to previous mythic expansions and so called "changes" I hadnt played war in some time, atleast not for any length of time or seriousness... but the current game seems alot better than I remember it. Of course, I havnt played in any seriousness in over a year, so much has changed. I am still unsure how the endgame is, but from the map it seems thats t4 is where most of the fighting is at. Anyways, the pack and changes it brought , are awesome, and im a bit more optimistic about WARs future now, and will atleast give it another chanch before writing it off as "unfixable"
Too long didnt read: I bought the 15 dollar pack on a whim, along with a free welcome back promo... and, despite being unguilded and quite lonely, went out with a PUG warband and did t3 ORVR for about 4 hours... capping 2 pairings and... wait for it... actully had fun... whether this feeling and good times continues, remains to be seen and requires further testing.
Rage out
This is why Mythic is master in misinformation. They've been using standard terms and words and advertising them like a MMO usually would even though it isn't usually what you'd expect to get when a MMO says .
And then the fans go all 'New expansion pack with new races and classes!!', even though that's completely misleading. But it's 'correct enough'. 'Live expansion' 'Booster Pack' etc etc. All bright but misleading.
Mixing a content patch with the RvR packs was also brilliant. People can't seem to seperate the two so they defend what they got for the price by saying 1.4 as a whole is worth it, but when talking about how much content Mythic has given out for free they also use 1.4 as 'free content'.
Add Paul Barnett to that and it's been a pretty amazing ride since pre release in showing how much a little twisting of words can do.

@above, Skaven are certainly not 'more powerful', they simply lose your character utility and trade it in for specialized Siege utility. Something you otherwise couldn't get. (Like tossing people into the keep). Overall they don't really do a lot of damage and they go down pretty quickly.
