I come in peace.
Played WoW for all of 10 minutes before it made my eyes bleed.
Does it get a beefy graphic's update in Cata ?
No i don't mean a change in art style just a actual bit more polish to it and more detail.

Heh someone has never played the game on ultra graphics setting but yea the scenery gets an update but thats about it.
short answer : NO.
Heh I did and ran the macro tutorials on youtube (could well just be the artstyle i had the same issue in WAR)
Ahh well thanks for the speedy answers guys MMO cold turkey to GW2 or TOR it is then.
The only graphical improvement is the water. If you are familiar with Lotro, which has the best looking water and water mphysics I have seen in an mmo, WoW has come close. It implemented the ripple physics and changed the look of the water. Also the look and effects of lava has changed. All that was done a few patches ago. Other then that, theres not much change.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
This ^_^ The game looks amazing when you max out the graphics.
Heh i actually found LOTR's to be pretty awful as well and lets not even discuss the animations which where by far the worst I have come across in any MMO especially THAT run.

I agree. He must not be playing on "Ultra". Or maybe his card cant handle it. I have a Nvidia GTX 460 and running lotr with DX11 turned on. All I can say is "Amazing!"
simply.....NO.
Aion and AoC look amazing with maxed graphics, WoW looks like crap. unfortunately the only graphic update will be the water.....seriously, who gives a flying fart about the water!?
i'v been saying this for years now....i would happily pay 100$ for some sort of platinum WoW edition with vastly improved graphycs. even if its the exact same game but with much better graphics i would buy the whole thing again, heck i would probably even upgrade my comp if it was required to run it. it's truly the only thing this game doesn't have, and i just can't force myself to sit there and look at it for any ammount of time anymore. it's just looks friken old.
True. LOTRO's graphics are very nice when you play on ultra high. As for the animation? WoW's combat is very dynamic and smooth. No MMO can beat it when it comes to how good the animations flow. And for a lot of players (including me) clunky movements make the game a lot less enjoyable. AoC had problems with animations but LOTRO takes combat clunkiness to a whole new level. Don't get me wrong I love LOTRO but I would switch its combat for WoW's anytime.
I haven't played Aion so I can't comment. (I will never play an MMO from an eastern company)
AoC had better graphics but god I couldn't stand to play the thing. WoW's so much better gameplaywise. And why are you comparing WoW to the best loooking MMO out there which need i remind you is the most PC intensive and was unplayable by a lot of players at release. And if you can't run at the decent settings, the game looks like shit and will look worse than WoW. Ofc, if your machine can handle it, the game looks good. But as I said gameplay > graphics.
LOTRO and WOW both use very different graphics. WoW has much better character model graphics but LOTRO has way better scenery graphics imo.
You get used to the terrible graphics in WoW. The biggest downside, though, is that WoW seems to have a pretty subpar engine. I can run LotRO at fully maxed out graphics (directx 11 included) and never drop below 80fps. If I max out everything on WoW, I can get like 30 in Dalaran, and 20-30 on bosses that are, for whatever reason, exceptionally laggy (I'm looking at you, Marrowgar). If I'm in a heroic and fullscreened in WoW, I can get 100+ fps. The range is ridiculous.

The patch notes mention other environment elements getting more detailed models like the trees in ashenvale. But I haven't heard about anything else like character models or such so it sounds pretty limited.
All die, so die well.
Are you making a joke? I haven't had a computer that couldnt max out WOW ever. That games system requirements are so low it's.... Do they even make laptops now that can't max out WOW? I usually wouldnt comment on this but geez.
If you computer can't max out WOW then I really feel bad for you playing any current generation game.
The best looking dwarfs are L2 dwarfs hands down.
Also, people who think WoW looks amazing even on ultra must be either in love with WoW or that particular art syle because there are many games that blow it out of the water. Aion, Lotro (as stated above), and Guild Wars to name a few. Heck if you like that art style WAR looks much nicer than WoW as well.
Simply, the games graphics are extremely dated to say the least. Revamping the water physics is nice and all, but means nothing when the characters and nps that thrive in this huge world all look dated.
If Blizzard ever changed their engine they would lose a lot of customers cause the game can be run on really low end computers from 2000.
It's at its limits now. Games always come to this. It's their graphic max, sure they can add sun shafts, updated reflection systems, and a highly tempermental and rather lazy Dx11 system. They have found the end of the rainbow in their engine. They can continue to revamp it with little bits here and there but there's only so much you can "hack" into a system without breaking it. By hacking I mean adding something that was never intended to be added. Without an actual overhaul of the system you won't find more than what's there. But playing a game merely on graphical merits would force you to play pretty crap. For an allusion, think of Avatar. Yeah, you bet it was pretty, kind of like a body at a funeral viewing. You can dress it up as many ways as you want but it's still going to be dead. The body of course being a shoddy and overdone storyline. Yes we know mankind is bad and will strip what it can but at this point it's not a shocker. Hope this helps out.
The updates to the scenery actually affect the game's looks by a surprising amount.
And yet WoW will probably have another million subs ontop of their 12 million next year.
Remember Old School Ultima Online
Graphics do not a great game make. Case in point: AoC.
WoW's graphics are just fine.
That's absolutely terrible news. The music was one of the things WoW has always got pretty much perfect. Didn't need a single change.
MUNDO!!
