SE may as well have just shut down the game, most of the players have already left, and now delaying this update is just slitting the wrists of an already broken and sad game.

    I'm not suprised.

It's unfortunate for sure... I'm still playing the game though =)

Kinda damned if they do, damned if they dont kinda thing huh. If they stick to thier previously released date and push out an unfinished patch, well the reviewers will eat them alive again. And if they postpone it for a day or two to put out a finished patch, well the reviewers will eat them alive again. I dont see anyway SE can win on this game already, the game reviewers and anti-fans have already determined the fate they wish on FFXIV, and well it seems they will get what they want, one way or another.

  • SatimasuSatimasu Member UncommonPosts: 900

Oh no. Whatever shall I do, now that the update is delayed for probably a few more days? Maybe I should just give up now, since apparently it's bad to push something back when it's not ready... I guess they'll never learn...

Yes the irony propably is, if the patch is rushed out, the same people that complain about the delay, would complain why they did not wait long enough till the patch was ready.  Somehow with these things a company always gets the negative news I guess.

Good  condescending sarcasm, but the real moral of the story is that nobody can trust SE to release anything on time, whether it be pushed back , or in this huge floppy case, TOO EARLY.

This is just another rusty nail in a moldy coffin.

Also a 'few days', is an entire month, where every single day more and more people are deciding to leave that broken to hell catastrophe. They needed the game to be good when it released, and since it wasn't, they REALLY need to make it a playable game because in it's current state, it will not retain a strong, or even acceptable playerbase.

They could have just kept quiet about the update's release date. This isn't a MMORPG launch anymore. The players don't need to know the exact day that the developer expects to slide an update out.

If they did it for hype and to get people to come back, they should have just mentioned that they are working on a good update and are nearing release, but can't confirm an exact ETA. This would give room for positive speculation. Being honest like this would have been their best friend.

    Ah, but it's ok...

When they posted the bad news on facebook they had a sad face " :( "

I guess that update to fix everything in the game is delayed... (and if you really think this one update will make the game playable, then I got a bridge to sell you).

After all SE likes to keep it's promises... (like the one where this game was going to be a fun MMO to play), so them coming through with update shouldn't be a surprise.

Well at least they are not like a company that promised an expansion each year.

    Edit: Ah that I meant

It is not for or against the patch delay just a funny sidenote.

There is talk that they will lump November's patch with December's patch....

    late December...

When does that free gameplay expire?

  • BenthonBenthon Member Posts: 2,069

Are you kidding me? Jesus. I was hanging onto the game by a few limbs, hoping this would revitalize me somewhat. What a letdown.

My free game time expires Jan 11th, but I got the CE from eBay just a week ago and applied the 1month then.

    Poor beleaguered game...

It's always interesting to see how people react.

Those that like it are like...they are delaying it till it's finished (which they didn't do with the game itself...)

Those that dislike it are like...shenanigans!

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

Err.. There's nothing unusual about a statement like that.

Anything is subject to possible change, at any time, for whatever reason. Especially in software development.

    Everything's "intended" until it's done.

Also, patches getting pushed back isn't some unheard of event in MMOs... from any developer. Some patches get pushed back weeks or longer.

     /sarcasm

But this game was so high on the MMORPG.com hype meter....it will be massive dont worry.

I was in the closed beta, and I said to my self after a few weeks of that "experience" that it would be 18 months and an entire expansion before this could be called a game.  That is when I may look at it again.

I guess the uproar mainly is created because it is Final Fanatsy 14. Not get me wrong but some people are a bit in a kind of irritable mood in the acse of any news from FF14 that can be in some way negative.

I guess very sensible should describe it better. Like I as quoted above see no uproar against Blizzard that promised an Expansion in every year.

Also keep in mind that some people simply love to hop on the "hate" bandwagon and look for any and every opportunity to say "fail!" about the game in question, whether it's warranted or not. Their motives go no deeper than that.

I've seen some of the same names in the forums for numerous different games, doing the same thing... saying "fail!" at everything the developer does.

Yet, every now and again, you'll notice those people in the forums for the MMO they do enjoy. And what are they doing? They're defending the game against every similar criticism laid against those other MMOs they were joyously bashing. They're carrying on like the "fanboys" they so often "call out" in other MMOs forums.

Don't remember the name of the poster anymore as it was some time ago. But they were one of those posters who seemed to be in the forums for every other MMO that I'd look into. In each one they were doing the same thing... saying "fail!" and declaring how the games sucked, should be shut down, only fanboys enjoyed it, etc. etc. A lot of the same things we've seen said about FFXIV over the past several weeks.

Lo and behold, I go into the forums for, of all MMOs, Vanguard - a game with a troubled history of its own -  and there they are. They weren't bashing the game. Nope. Rather, they were spinning at light speed to defend the game from any criticism voiced about it, no matter how valid.

I'm pretty sure I laughed out loud at that discovery.

I don't even like SE games and even I can't help but chuckle at statements like this. They messed up on an MMO. Every studio is capable of releasing a flop and that's what happened here, nothing more and nothing less. It happens to the best of them, always has always will. Your first comment was even more hilarious, if every studio that messed up simply dropped their game, there would only be one or two MMO's in existence today. LOTRO and WOW.

Some of the haters on this forum lack a lot of perspective.

The game was delayed for TWO DAYS.  Is that so life changing that you're ready to cast judgment on a company for delaying a patch TWO DAYS?

The notes even say its because they think they can add more to the patch before release.  In life, nothing is black and white but people on these forums talk as though they walk on water.

Yes, the game is in an unfinished state, but SE is making positive strides (3 months of free gameplay) and making pretty much ALL of the changes people want (better ui, more content, etc etc.).

If SE found a cure for AIDS the haters would find something to criticize about that.  There are some in this forum who are the scorned girlfriend and want nothing more to spew venom at every minor news update.  The patch was delayed for a very short period of time.  Some of us are disappointed but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter in the slightest.

Good for you. Don't see how you can't trust them.

Push your "it's a flop" stance all you like, but I'd wait until the PS3 version flops to do that. Cause it means nothing right now.

Anyway, I guess I was wrong. It's only a couple of days. I can't be trusted now... *dun dun duuuun*
